Vital is currently running with the story.

Wonder what's next for him? But he seemed to carry an infectious good-times vibe where ever he went.

Sounds like rider development, at someone who isn't Santa cruz from the article, hinting that its all done, just waiting for announcement/embargo to be lifted.

Cant imagine him not being heavily involved in viral marketing either

He’d be a great fit for YT. Other than their DH team all their riders seem to be about having fun on a bike. Roskopp sounded very emotional and hurt in the interview on Vital. So assume this is something Josh wanted rather than SC.

Perhaps he didnt get that much of a say now he no longer owns the company.

Maybe less of an odd fit if you see him going more seriously into Enduro, they might want to make a big push, and he's got the ability as well as marketability.

Him breaking his ankle on that World Champs run is still the biggest heartbreaker ever for me, was so gutted for him, moreso even than the time Sam Hill crashed

Wonder what’s next for him?

Sitting around on his barge getting stoned and occasionally putting amusing videos on Instagram?

It would make me smile if he went to Enduro having left DH due to the environmental affect of all his air travel!

I am going with YT as a complete guess , has to be someone with a downhill bike which i dont think cannondale has at the moment  .

be interested in his reasons as he doesnt really seem driven by money and i wonder if the whole 50:01 lot will go with him .

That was Harry Heath.

Yep. Done and dusted weeks ago.

That interview sounded a bit awkward at times.

It says he'll still be riding SC wheels?

YT would be a good match and are ambitious.

Chsin reaction have the money but are a bit sports direct.

outside chance of Orange, brand seems a bit flat at the mo and he'd certainly spark interest in the brand.

I like the guy, wish he'd push himself a bit more like at hard line the other week. Still he's living the dream riding with his mates daily with a skill set us lot can only dream of.

In the maturation of men, being talented and a joker will take you so far. After that, you need to shift towards adulthood and find a new way forwards. You can develop into something else, or fade into obscurity.

He's a character, and likeable, but his primary earning potential from riding are obviously behind him. I suspect he can be something different in the future. We'll see.

Nah riders like brendog, dudes of hazard, even Danny mac etc show that you don't need race results to make a living.

Fwiw he's a fast & stylish rider, he did a couple of UKGEs this year & he lifted the tempo a bit

He seemed enthusiastic about enduro when he was interviewed on the downtime podcast. And he's got some good results from just playing about with it

Not sure what's happening with Cannondale, I thought Matt Simmonds was on their enduro team for 2018 but he's been riding a commencal at DH WC? I can see it happening actually, with their new jekkyl etc

Really weird to not see him on a santa Cruz tho

Given he’s just messing about on bikes but can still turn up at an ews and get a top 10 or 20 place with ease, I would say he still has plenty of earning potential on a bike. The boy’s a natural

Might be good for Cannondale if he does end up there... though never can tell how well a bike company and their bike image is due to their roster/sponsored riders.

wrt the interview I felt Sven’s questions were more awkward than Rob’s responses.

Some pinkbike commenters (so it must be 100 per cent credible) are adamant he's going to Focus. We need a cryptic team rumour drawing to throw some light on this (what happened to them? Prob got banned by redbull/Martin whitely)

That would probably be easier to understand that a Rat interview 🙂

Can't see him going to Focus, bearing in mind they're owned by the same company as Santa Cruz!

I'm not sure how he fitted into the SC lineup since he stopped racing 'seriously'.

Peaty does the former-racer-party-time better; Minaar's quest for racing perfection captures the money no object superbike customers; Danny Mac is far better to watch for stylish riding; plus they've invested in 2 possible future greats on the DH scene who have done well this year.

All the best for Ratboy, (unless he gets an ebike) but he didn't really fit the brand in my opinion

Maybe he's going to Ellsworth to join Lopes 🙂

Although it would appear that Lopes has left.  Back to Ibis?

Have to say I agree.

I can't however join everyone else who thinks what's he's doing now is great, I'm glad he's enjoying himself, but it's not for me. I was a huge fan when he was racing WCs, but I find the whole LADS LADS LADS 50/1 thing a bit daft.

Personally I have to admire someone who has managed to skip past either winning races/doing stupidly dangerous insane jumps/being an trials rider who can do stuff which even non riders look at and are amazed by.

What he does now doesnt come across as an obvious sales point to any brands but if he pulls it off he deserves it.

Thats the point, there’s an enormous market for younger riders who have no interest in the motor homes and shiny glasses at the World Cup. Their whole world is instagram and short ‘edits’. World cups are for the likes of me.

Brands would be silly to miss out on this huge market. Santa Cruz are super savvy as they have tapped into this without appearing to be doing any marketing but actually it’s very well managed. These youngsters will grow up soon and their money will go to the brands they dreamt of.

I have friends in media paid handsome sums to include certain automobile brands in their Instagram stories.

He's racing the Trans-Cascadia with SC this weekend.

Where did the Transition rumour come from? Not seen that one.

The rat will be a brand embasador for orange bikes .he is happy doing what he's doing earning a basic but honest crust messing about .

Some say it's a waste of talent especially when he's still young and the sport is a short window for anyone to be at the top (a few greats are the exception )

But it's his decision.

Not a fan of the 50/01 stuff personally but there's obviously a following and a like for it .

I'd like to see where it now goes but good luck to him I say .

Rocksopp is frustrated that someone with such a gift choose to throw it away.

Understandable but we're not all equal.

What is 50/01? I like watching it now and again it's got a bmx video vibe to it. It feels achievable, where as the speed he races at certainly isn't. Yeah it's sad he didn't keep charging but he's hardly been unsuccessful and as said above you can make money other ways these days. Still feel he could beat Luca or Loris if he decides to come back.

Does he really smoke that much weed? Be sad if he smiles all his money away.
