Through one of my work contracts I was asked to remove and rehome some unwanted bikes. One of the bikes was a BMX (a Wethepeople if the stickers were to be believed). It was in a pretty sorry state but I thought it might make a reasonable pump track bike. On the way home I stopped at Halfords and picked up a selection of rattle cans...
When I got it home I stripped it down as best I could, stripped off the stickers and gave it a thorough sanding. Then it got two coats of etch primer, two of metallic brown on the frame or metallic black on bars and cranks and then three coats of lacquer. No space in the shed to spray so it was done in the open air and then quickly whisked back inside before anything stuck to it.
Overall it came up alright. Ideally I'd prefer a rear brake to a front one, and the bottom bracket is pretty graunchy. But time and funds don't permit anything else being done to it at the minute.Â
Could be fun I think if I get a chance to ride it. It may well end up being rehomed...
That wasn't a bad looking bike even before you 'restored' it.
It looks very nice - I like the metallic Brown frame especially.
I have never owned a BMX but I keep getting an itch - and you're not helping at all 😎 😀Â
I had a black WTP with the green front and rear rims, wasn't bad, was never used on pump tracks though only used for street riding in my early 20s, realised I prefer being on a bigger bike with suspension so sold it
