i got a nad 3220pe amp and just had it on medium volume and it overheated. 1st time its happened. Is it a major problem
I've an old AMP as well, the bearings are beyond repair now so it's hanging on the shed wall. 🙁
LOL....
could be something simple like dust build up internally. I'd take the cover off and blow it out.
Indestructable,my flatmate peed in MINE and it still worked(stank a bit mind)Blow dust off as they run hot.
I took cover off and dusted it. found 3 blown fuses, if i replace these with time delay fuses. Would it work
there's probably a good reason they aren't time delay fuses. They are designed to allow small spikes in current of the type not generally caused by gradual overheating
do i just replace them with quick blow fuses. cause i got alot of heat from the capacitors last nite at a medium volume. just generates a lot of static noise from both channels.
find the cause of the problem before you replace fuses, they are there to protect other stuff which you'll just cook if you keep blowing fuses
check you haven't got a dead short or some leakage in your speakers/cables
there was a bit of burning smell from the capacitors - could they be gone. its a nice amp and dont want to get rid of it. but i dont want to spend much fixing it
you've gone beyond my knowledge now, try hitting it with a hammer
Depending on age, there was a spate of bad capacitors a few years ago. Lots of motherboards fell victim to it. There's a good article on Wikipedia somewhere about it.

there is sound there. but a lot of hissing and static. the capacitors are 4700 uf's, i'm not too sure where the problem is. i could replace the capacitors and fuses. but that might not solve it
Listen to some early 80's industrial music on it then you won't notice the difference.
Electrolytic capacitors will die with age, so they could well be busted.
The fuses will be blown for a reason, so just replacing them won't help.
I can get the capacitors and the fuses from maplin or rs components. But I dont know if that will solve the problem
