I have a lovely Rocky Mountain anniversary Blizzard hardtail that I’ve owned since new. Xt/hope/talas etc. my dream spec at the time. I’ve bought a new 120 29er which I love, so

I’m wondering what to do with my RM. I’m guessing it is of low value in terms of cash these days? If so, how have you approached converting yr 26” hardtail to a rigid gravel/road/do it all?

Did you go 650b? Easy to convert to a 1x group? Yes. I know it’s fine as it is!!! Just fancy updating it if possible. Cheers.

I converted my old 26" Soul when I bought a new 29er HT. I used a carbon fork and some old 700c wheels with gravel tyres. I didn't bite on the financial bullet that converting to drop bars with hydraulic brakes would be.
It works very well but I think I might sell it because I seem to use the new 29er for everything. I even have spare wheels with less aggressive tyres fitted.
You'll have to ask yourself how much you will ride it and whether it's worth spending any money on. The only things I had to buy were the tyres, the rest was from the spares box.

I always wanted a Blizzard.
Definitely don't sell it!

I just did this with my old P7. It was looking tatty and unloved and in desperate need of some TLC. I bloody love that bike and didn’t want to sell it. So I stripped it back to the frame, new bottom bracket, drive chain, cables, pads etc. cosmetics sorted with a new saddle and grips, then Small Block 8 tyres and took the dropper off it

Its like a new bike. It’s now being used as a gravel/bridleway/commuter/pub bike

Since the rebuild I’ve actually ridden it more than my mountain bike and my road bike

I've just tarted up my old Diamond Back Ascent (repainted it, and re-cabled). You could stick quicker tyres on it.

@malley, I put my P20 on eBay for strong money and someone bought it. Would have allowed for a reasonable gravel bike. No regrets selling it
