What do You think about older GT cro-mo forks? They weight abot 990gr, about 180gr heavier than the alu Cannondale Pepperoni I have, but maybe it's worth to swap, because of comfort...

Any other solutions? Other light weight steel forks?

Depends on the frame the axle to crown length will be quite short on older forks. Carbon would be the other option for light weight bump absorption.

We are talkin' about a Marin Team Issue frame from the '90s. So I think the A-C length should be about 390-415mm.

Are the Kona P2 forks lighter than GT? I don't think so...

I think Marin came with Rockstar forks which are reputedly quite a good fork. Others you could consider are Spinners, a triple butted set should be fairly light and ride nice or for a little bit more money a set of Ritchey forks would be really nice. Of course P2's, Spesh Direct drives and GT forks are all fine but personally I don't like mixing and matching from other manufacturers for some reason 😕

The frame has 1 1/8" A-headset, so I need forks for that.

If the GT forks are the ones I'm thinking about (came on loads of mid-90s GTs) then they won't be comfy. Fair beefy non-tapered legs meant they were really harsh.

How much do you want to spend? Shorter Salsa Cromotos would be a good option? Think the shorter versions (420mm?) come with canti mounts too. Lovely forks... got some of the longer ones on my Curtis S1.

triple butted ones are nice forks. cheaper varieties are MUCH harsher.

I downgraded (long story) and you really can tell the difference.

The forks are a black GT, with eyelets the two sides of axle. (for fender and maybe rack... ) But I don't know much more about that forks and don't have any pics.
