Have some old Fox Vanilla 125RC forks and wonder if it's worth servicing myself or sending away to be done?
I think Mojo want about £100 to do and their service kits are about £50...
Anyone done something similar recently or should I just ride until they break?
id check them for excess bush play first.
then
id drain them and open them , look over the whole stanchion - look for signs of silver where it had rubbed off . - if worn id put them back together then ride to the death
IF good then id get a service kit and rebuild with fresh oil.
if thye were good stanchions but failed the bush test id send them off for a service.

You can buy the oil and float fluid separately and then just get the correct wiper seals, probably 32mm in your case? Mojo should have everything you need. (Could get some new crush washers too in case yours don't seal when you put them back together)
I'd start with a trip to Halfords or a motor factor or a motorbike place for some for fork oil.

If you're going to take them apart to assess, then you might as well put them back together with nice clean oil, they are very likly to feel better with just a clean and fresh oil anyway.

+1, if the stanchions are worn then no point in spending much on servicing them as they're on the way out - or get new stanchions from Mojo and a complete rebuild for about £180.
With Vanillas being coil sprung I'd not even be too bothered if the stanchions were scratched, new oil will sort them out fine.
Some on here will tell you of performance loss but they study forks on a dyno rig in a lab.
Errrm no. I had the exact same forks, stantions were worn and they used to ooze oil all over the lowers.
Sent them to TF Tuned and the bill was £265, for a seven year old fork it is not worth it. so I upgraded to Rock Shox Revelations.
I still have the fox forks you can have them for £20 plus postage if you want to make a frankenfork.

Seems a lot, I've had two new sets of stanchions out of Mojo, over the years, and pretty sure each bill was under £200.
£265 was for stantions, service and something else in the legs cant remember what.
Not its false economy!
I sold a 2010 set of 32's on ebay for £10 more than i paid for them new (£310) after two years use! Then replaced them with Merlins Revelations for £270
So er why bother ever servicing them when every year there is a great offer to be had, just got to take the plunge when the time is right!
Pezzers, at a guess, was it a rebound metering rod? They do seem to pop with considerable ease.
The other thing to check on Fox forx, is the CSU assembly. Grab the wheel between your knees and turn the bars. Do the forks creak or click? Possibly a sign that, even if they're not worn, your crown and steerer will soon need replacing.
