I was given an old Tacx 1450 Speedmatix trainer and trying to get Mrs Rider’s old disused 700c stepthru to fit
Problem is the width of the axle is way too narrow for the cups on the trainer even fully-wound-in, and it’s a bolt through axle? ie

The Turbo fits my Longitude with a regular security wheel-skewer a treat. But I don’t want to wear out the new XTR/Blackspire Super-Pro drivetrain while stationary and looking at a car-park, because I’m tightskint 🤣
Is it possible, anyone know?
You can buy turbo trainer nuts from TACX, I have them on my pomino on a TACX vortex turbo
That looks simple to sort, thanks!
Arrghh, Google-fu is failing me, and are they really £20 plus postage?

Anyone have an old pair for sale, or know some reliable online supplier with some? Ideally to pay via Paypal
Nip to Halfords.
Get some 10mm stabiliser extension bolts and a. Pair of wheel nuts should cost about a 5er.
Use the stabiliser extensions to bolt the wheel to the bike and then fit your new wheel nut to the thread -and fit your old one behind it. Then lock them together at the end of the extender thread.
Do same on other side.
Be sure to check they fit the trainer width. If too wide move the locked nuts inwards and cut off exposed thread.
Thanks trailrat, good thinking
