So I used to have a DP freestyler, I want one to hang on the wall & I just can't find one for sensible money, so do I suck it up & buy This? or just let it go?

I have been searching for a few years & they only seem to be going up in value.

Cheers.

Wow, that's a few bob. I had a banana yellow frameset back in the day - sure it only cost £75 new back in '85! 😉

I had one and cracked it by the drive side dropout. Every time I pedalled or jumped it made a clunking noise. I couldn't find the problem until I looked down one day to see it the whole tube separating under load.

Check out the DP racing owners club on Facebook. Better looking frames than the one in your link have sold for less than £475.

I think the coloured ones rrp'd about 69quid, and this LE version 139. If you want one, the limited edition probably doesn't crop up too often so if it's nice, buy it. You'll sell it on when the market will be in your favour later in life for what you paid for it+

The value should remain as long as the people who were into BMX in the 80's are still alive so another 20 year yet as these are largely sentimental purchases and valued accordingly.

Generalisation - At the moment we are all about 50 and have a good level of disposable income and demand is outstripping supply

Buy it if you can afford it 😀 I spent the thick end of £500 on a survivor complete 1994 GT Performer (imported from America) a year or so ago. I sold it about 6 months ago and have regretted it ever since 🙁 I haven't been able to find another one. My survivor 1995 Fueler is going nowhere!

edit- gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! I've just bought a 1996 Performer F&F 😡 😆

Oh the mighty freestyler.
I had one in 1984/5 ish, skyway wheels, laser lite bars.....
Sold it complete for 40 quid to someone I still ride with, he still gets grief of me.
I bought a frame a few years ago that was in reasonable nick and it lay for a year or 2 and I eventualy threw it out.

Hmmm, I really want one but I just can't justify it, I already have a repro Team Burner on the wall that has never been ridden, I guess that is more iconic to most so I'll just keep that I think...

F that. 500 for something that wasn't very good in its heyday is stupid. I had a standard firebird and a delta 2 and si down the road had a freestyler. How much are Torkers going for?

Frame 5129 is sitting in my cellar with a pair of ACS z rims and Shimano wide flange hubs. I'm not selling it. I would be interested in buying a set of CW bars though....

I know where my actual MCS Magnum is from, ooo, 1982 or so. I haven't seen it in thirty years or more, and now feel oddly nostalgic for it.
