I am looking to do the Pennine bridleway and was wondering if anyone has done it and posted to Strava, map my ride, Garmin, etc ?
I could create the route for myself but I am trying to get round a very boring hour of clicking on web screens ....

Cheers if you have or know someone who has done it

Theres actually a link to the full GPX on the official website (remarkably good of them, really good to see them using tech like this)

Not done it all, but I've been looking at it. I live just off the route, and am considering having a crack at the whole thing over a few days at some point soon...

The GPX off the PBW site includes all the spur sections and the Mary Towneley Loop, and can look a bit crazy in mapping software when it tries to link it all up. It'd probably be a bit of a pain to follow on a Garmin or whatever too, although I've not tried it. Anyway, I edited the GPX file to just show the whole of the main PBW just the other day, it's here if anyone's interested.

Total distance of the main route looks to be about 170 miles.

A long weekend is probably doable if you're a fast rider. I reckon I'd aim to do it in three days, given decent conditions. Day one: start to Saddleworth-ish, crash at my house; day two: Saddleworth to Long Preston-ish; day three: Long Preston to finish. That's more because of where my house is though...

Hardtail is plenty for the northern half.

Yep, hardtail is ideal for the PBW stuff round here too. I think a CXer would be a bit uncomfortable for long days, it isn't exactly technical* but it is quite bumpy, rocky going for long stretches so most people will appreciate a bit of cushioning from decent sized tyres and a shortish travel fork. I'll be doing it on my Soul if I ever get round to it.

* Although I did manage to faceplant badly enough on the Roych that I had to go to A and E a couple of years back. They've fixed that particular hole now though...

Cotic Soul works well on the PBW for me, good choice!

mintimperiel - I'm probably being thick, but your gpx link takes me to a page of text, can I convert it to a gpx file to download?
