synthetic/fully synthetic/mineral oil?
which do i choose if not buying fork oil? presume 15wt still (rock shox)
Go to your local motorbike shop and get some 15w fork oil its about 4000000% cheaper than rockshox own brand and just the same
I know that cheers 🙂 Just on the enduroforkseals site it recommends 5wt40 fully synthetic as it flows around better and sticks to parts easier
anyone corroborate this /\
Below is the oil Rockshox re-brand and double the price of, even the bottle is identical.

Teh oil in the lowers os just for lubrication. It don't really matter too much what you use.
If 5/40 is recommended thats just basic car multigrade - get the cheapest.
fully synth lubricates better than semi synth, not sure if it's noticeable as a fork lube though.
TBH, for the amount I use, I just find it easier to pick up a bottle of Fox stuff every couple of years or so
Fairly sure that they are adding a big premium but I can't be bothered for the [very] occasional saving of a fiver or so
IIRC, 4 litres of Castrol semi synth for my car was dearer than Fox oil anyway
i use leftover semi-synth 10/40 from doing my motorbikes (leftover new stuff that is!).
Coming from the NE if that makes any difference.
I needed to carryout an oil service mid Alps trip last year and used some the spare engine oil we had for the van.
IIRC it was synthetic 5/40w and the forks (36 Talas R) felt 'gloopier' than with the [thinner] 7w fork oil. Whch is no great suprise as the engine oil was thicker.
Hasn't done the forks any harm. If fact when I swapped out the oil (for fork oil) upon returning from holiday the forks felt really plush. More so than after previous oil changes.

Was the quote that should be in the post above.

Got to agree with what Uplink says here.
Personally, for RS forks I use this...

...and then for my Fox forks I just buy the Fox branded oil from my LBS
