You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
So after much research on "where to ride in Edinburgh" I get here and excitedly pull out the OS map and have a quick look to see what was on our doorstep, my riding buddy had to work so I thought I'd take myself off for a bit of a warm up before hitting the Pentlands and then Glentress later, so I thought great Arthurs seat looks like it could be fun so off I trundle. First climb and I'm blowing well feeling great and eyeing what I thought was a foot drop so I cruise up unfortunatley I wasn't concentrating and on approach it turns out to be closer to 4 foot and i was not carrying nearly enough speed! so over the bars I go.
After pulling myself together I realise my lid has just saved my life due to the new dented by rocks look it's sporting, however my wrists are a different matter, left wrist broken right badly sprained knee gouged head bruised. All in all a rather abrupt end to my week of cycling in Scotland gutted! and to add to my annoyance the view from our window is Arthurs seat seemingly sticking 2 fingers up at me which is more than I can do right now. Ah well I'll just have to come back in 6 weeks and see if I can maybe restore some confidence! So kids always wear a lid! And I can now guarantee we'll have an awesome summer with dry trails as I'm off the bike!!
****! That'll have been the spirit of Arthurs Seat reminding you that riding there is not permitted (sort of). Hope you heal quickly and ain't in too much pain. Just remind yourself that the hills have been around a long time and will still be there for you in a few weeks 🙂
And remember that some helmet companies have a cheap replacement policy.
I am still to have my first 'big' fall. Although when I was 14 I came off the bike in Q E Park in Hants and hit my head on a tree stump, thank the Lord I was wearing a helmet. Put me off riding for 9 years! I started smoking pot instead and went to art school, glad I saw sense and Im back riding now,d amn that tree stump! Hope you get better soon

Or alternatively, don't 'cruise' up to drops that you don't know... 😉
