looking for a nice route from scarborough to rosedale. i have done the route via dalby-lockton-cropton, which is very nice. so looking for something a bit more offroad,
was thinking burniston-harewood dale-lilla howe-eller beck-wheeldale moor.
looks ok on OS maps, but wondering what it is like on the ground.
anyone?
I know there are decent paths over the moors but it's years since I've ridden them.
Bikehike.co.uk osm cycle map might be more illuminating than os.
Hi ton.
Have you done the pedal North c2c route before?
https://pedalnorth.com/mountain-bike-c2c-2/
It goes through Rosedale, hole of horecum and behind the raf base. The gravel roads over the tops are fantastic. I have done a couple of routes if you want a strava route.
Or just download stage 7

I have done the route from Lockton crossing back via cropton to rosedale.
not done the route east of Lockton.
could be ok tho as I could call for a pint at cropton brewery.
I think the Moor to Sea cycle route should get you there.
https://www.northyorkmoors.org.uk/visiting/enjoy-outdoors/cycling/moor-to-sea-cycle-network
I think it's not mega technical but is mainly off road or small lanes. It's on my list to work my way around the route.
How about the dales divide route https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/dales-divide-2019?p=-1
Don't forget to have a beer in the blakey ridge inn. Used to be the best old peculiar bar a few.
