I still have access to the STW club on Zwift Companion, but I've noticed my rides don't appear on there like they used to, at least for me anyway. Only things I can think of is I removed "(STW)" from my Zwift name during this past week and I played around the clubs scroll window in Zwift (switching from "STW" to "none" nad back again a few times).

I can see still see your rides on there. The tag doesn’t make any difference but this is zwift so who knows 🤷🏻

I’ll join you tomorrow Brian but I am doing a recovery ride so don’t wait for me at all! Chat will still work though!

Brian but I am doing a recovery ride so don’t wait for me at all!

Going by Tuesday and Thursday evenings robbo I think you probably recover at about the same pace I race at at the moment so I doubt I'll need to do much waiting. (I might try his Adam's wheel on the down hill though 😉). I may also be doing a recovery* ride following a race this morning and the gym this afternoon.

*I assume there's some meaning to this beyond "I hurt from too much effort yesterday", that's what I mean though.

It's a shame you can't put elastic band on by rider preference instead of only for the whole group

Well in answer to the "I don't know where it will go off the top of the epic" question the answer is I don't think Zwift do either!

Seems a few folks have spotted it already but I'll shout up for anyone else that might be interested.

I've put a group ramp test in the club rides on Saturday morning so if you feel in need of a bit of post Christmas self flagellation please join us.

Saturday, 7.30am

In. Need to do one anyway as I plan to do a training plan, knowing how crap I am will help me set my goals realistically low 🤣

Yeah, I signed up for the ramp test.
Riding has been very sporadic since mid-Nov due to random illness and Christmas goings on.
I figure my fitness has dropped quite a bit so could do with resetting my FTP!

Not looking forward to it though 😂

I've signed up too. Have barely been on the turbo this winter, had a cold and then COVID in December. But have a few days in the lake District booked for March so have <12 weeks to get myself into shape.

If you want to just get back into it, the Tour de Zwift starts next week which enables you to ride a number of the courses in big packs with lots of drafting. Timeslots for the rides are pretty much every hour, with 8 sessions running for about four days at a time on different courses. The final ones of these (in Feb) will see the new Scotland map opening up.

Tempted. Honest. But 7.30am doesnt really work for me unless I get up stupid early and eat first. Then again, I do (normally fasted) workouts at that sort of time twice a week now so it'll be a useful benchmark. Hmmm. And it's only a ramp test not a full 20 minute test. Might depend on what the weather is like and whether I get outside I think. Go well.

Can't make Saturdays unfortunately due to other commitments but wish you all well!

Just sowing a seed...anyone interested in picking up the Sunday Hills zwift rides again, whilst we are mid winter? It might help our FTP's and climbing prowess along the way....(*not guaranteed!)

I can't remember how you do it from the user end - you should (now) be able to join the Saturday morning workout as a non member and I'll try sort out an invite from there if I can remember how!

@oopnorth Sunday hills sounds good to me, I'm going to put a few bits in the calendar in an attempt to get me off my backside a bit (always easier with company!) thinking a monday evening social, pick a (public) race or something for a Wednesday eve, workout Saturday morning then Sunday hills.

Aye, be good to get the band back together.

Though typically I'm away next weekend so whilst I'm happy to setup a Saturday workout and or sunday hills for the 14/15th I won't be able to attend either.

Never done one before and Saturday is starting to look busy so this may work….
Signed up and will try to be there!

Just remember, it's horrible and the expectation in early Jan is it will be a less than impressive result but something to build on!

Just as a heads-up - in the companion app, I don't think the 'club' rides' appear in the normal 'events' banner on the home page.
You need to select the menu (top left) & then clubs and go looking for them. Bit random, but that's Zwift....

My Dad ended up in hospital a few days back with a chest infection.
He's now home and I'm staying with them for a couple of days to make sure they're coping OK.

So the upshot is that I won't be ramp testing in the morning.
Got my running kit instead and planning a tour of Wembley to take in some old haunts.

Have fun all!!

Well surprised myself a bit there. thought I'd struggle to get a FTP above 200 but came out at 211w. Was maxxed out in the legs and in my HR too so happy it's a true reflection of where I am right now. Target is to get above 230w by easter and a decent bump in stamina too, I'll ignore weight though as that is something I'm working on too but any loss will be free speed.

Great effort by those who made it.

Thanks for the motivation. A disappointing but expected 240w, way down from my high of 290 ish 12-18 months back.

I’ve been off the bike for months though. Now there’s a baseline to work back from at least. Let’s go!

Cheers for coming folks good to see you, I wouldn't worry too much about the number Funky, as I mentioned mine comes out consistently low on a ramp test vsa 20min or 1hr, but it's a useful gauge because it is consistent. (edit, and I should add, a lot more palettable than a 20min test 🤮🤢🤮)

All my tests have been using the same method for that reason, Zwift will bump me up after a hard race occasionally but whenever I've done a fresh test to check the numbers they are always lower by ~10%. As you say it's a comparison tool for you not a super-accurate lab test.

Well I have a base line now at least. Probably more importantly I understand how the test works and what to expect.
253w I think it was.

Thanks for the company and motivation!

In dire need to address my weight. Haven’t weighed myself since the days of the Zwift league and got down to 77kg October 2021. One year later of not weighing myself, a new job where bike time as been severely reduced, cakes seem to be the currency of choice plus working alongside a feeder lead to an increase of 88kg by this October. Followed by a weeks all inclusive holiday and Xmas over feeding I found a new 17 year all time peak weight of 92kg last Monday morning.

This forced me back onto a slow carb diet from 4 hour body and may become full blown keto diet once I’ve got too eating less.

Down to 88kg in the 6 days but expect some fluid loss amongst that. Trying to step up the gym and cycling but energy is pretty low at the moment. Will keep plugging away, target weight is too dip around 76 and level out at 78 once carbs are reintroduced.

Sorry I meant to enter that message into the chubb club.

Going to get back into Zwift a bit more so may catch up on a Sunday hills in the future. Currently I’m knackered after 40 minutes of what I used to class as warm up.

I can't make many evening events unfortunately Brian, due to getting back home after 7pm most nights, I can do 7-30pm starts at best but it's often frantic!!

Thanks again for yesterday, it was a good one to start and I even enjoyed the hill...weirdo! @kirky72 just join in the hills ride, we go at the slowest pace and no one is left behind, Brian and DrP don't mind waiting at the top of the hills for us slower ones. 😀
It all helps the progress to getting fitter on the bike.

I'll be back on Zwift/TrainerRoad very soon, took a break as I wasn't seeing any progress at all and I wanted to start a polarized plan with a bit more training load - but I needed a rocker plate to endure the 2-3hr Z2 sessions.

So, I've been building this over the last few weeks, just need to fit some rubber mat to the top and cut some velcro straps.

Nice, tallpaul!

I've just signed up to Xert for the 30 day free trial. Impressed so far and not as hard to get set-up as I was expecting.

I've done this to gain some structured training for the Dirty Reiver in April, so have set that as my target event date.

The only problem is it works best with power driven data, so I'm now looking at whether I can afford a power meter for the road bike. Something I never envisaged saying 🤣

Yep, so on the bar runs 5x linear bearings which allow the side to side rock and fore and aft movement, limited by springs on the rod and inflatable balls for the rocking.

Probably a stupid question but is there much difference between the A&B rides on this week's TdZ?

Distance and elevation look v similar, unless I've missed something.

A v short relatively sharp climb, a long sprint, a gradual down and a teensy bit of climb, (and vice versa)

Tour of tewit well its two laps in one direction, Royal pump room 8 is a single lap but that's basically one lap in each direction.

(I don't live in town anymore I'm afraid DrP, not for quite a few years, but I grew up about 3 minutes walk from the northern tip of the course)

I think A ride has the extra 'town loop' past Brian's house...
