Kind of assuming Long Mynd drains pretty well but don't know it well - am I going to be proved wrong?
what about Hopton Woods - never been there......
may also stop at Cannock on the way up - bring a snorkel?
thanks
Not sure about the Mynd, but hear Hopton's pretty muddy and Cannock is pretty rideable all year round (but it has really p****d it down over the last couple of days in Brum).
Longmynd will be ok and the other side of the A49 around the Caradoc and Lawley hills, also have a look at stiperstones some good riding over there and the pub is gr8, but don,t bother with eastridge that will be very muddy 😉
I'm not sure about the Long Mynd but Hopton is not too muddy; there's just a thin layer of mud on one section but it is quite slippy. Eastridge seems to drain quite well and even when wet it's quite grippy. Cannock's wet but not muddy.
Just so happens I'm off to Long Mynd and Hopton at the w/e too 🙂
Well I should be, my mate who I'm going with is ill, so hoping he recovers in time. Still I might go on my own anyway - could meet you there? I did the Pearce enduro at Hopton in Oct and was well impressed, so could show you the trail.
My plan was aim to start Long Mynd at about 10-11am on Sat. I'm travelling up from Portsmouth. Sunday Hopton woods, leaving by 3pm or so.
I'm staying overnight in All Stretton.
Drop me an email if you fancy meeting up? It would be good to know I have someone to ride with after the long journey - I hate riding on my own!
