Hi arriving on Monday and have a few basic questions if anyone could help would be appreciated..

Firstly - arriving by myself going to San Agustin, should I book a mini van just for myself beforehand, or is it possible to just pitch up and find a taxi that will fit a bike box and myself in. Been out to alps loads of time with bike but always booked in advanced as been in a group

Also - I have a bike box and will putting in a few bits of kit as I usually do. Can I take CO2 cannisters in the hold- I assume not? Anything else they will not let me bring as I was planning to pack box full of snacks, lube, gels etc..

CO2 can go in the hold or hand luggage but some airports don't understand that especially Manchester. No reason not to pack food in the hold but probably just check it's not easy to get it out there

Depending on the bike box they fit in most cars if the seats fold, you just need to sit up front with the driver

Always booked in advance myself - but there are always quite a few drivers stood by entrance waiting for people to arrive ... I see no reason why you couldnt ask one of those to call depot and arrange a pick up; or just email a firm this weekend ready ... easy enough to sort.

I have never taken co2 capsules .. I like the security a pump provides when riding away. I stuff my bike box with kit; spares; gels/bars ... whatever fits as long as it doesnt go overweight limit; never had any issues.

Enjoy.

Las Palmas arrivals spits you out in the "basement" which is basically just a big taxi rank. Always loads of vehicles there from little 4-seaters right up to MPVs / small vans etc, you'll find a cab no worries.

CO2: why bother? You might get it through but you're far more likely to find a security guard who insists on stripping the box down (inc all the clothes packed around everything) to remove them. If you're that desperate for a few cartridges, buy them out there. Freemotion in Las Palmas and Maspalomas both sell them.

Yes, they should be allowed; no, they don't pose a problem. However discretion on the part of airline staff isn't their strong point and to be honest, nor should it be!

Its worth trying the bus, we stayed in San Augustin in Jan and the bus is really easy as it's only 2 stops from the airport and a fraction of the price of a taxi. They have big holds under the sides like proper coaches as they are used to carrying the massive trunks that the package tour brigade bring to fill with fags on the way home. The stop is at the Clinica Blau and a short walk to the seafront. There is a really friendly restaurant by the bus stop as well and a little supermarket. Free Motion have a shop in the massive hotel up on the hill behind the clinic. Youll get co2 there as I'd bet you'll get cartridges taken off you at the airport.

Sorry that should be Clinica Roca.
