A few days ago noticed that there was a play in top shock bushing on my 3 month old Banshee Spitfire.

The bushings were new with the shock with the bike, so kind of surprising needing to replace them so soon. It's not a small amount of play either.

Just replaced them, but the play is still there. Tried another shock with another bushing, still same play. Everything is tight and aligned as far as I can see.

It almost seems like the bolt is too small? Could it of worn down in that time? There is next to no movement in the top bushing as the suspension moves through it's travel so it seems unlikely.

Any other suggestions as to cause?

Could the bolt be bottoming out before it's clamping the shock bush in the frame properly?

The play is vertical rather than horizontal. The bolt goes into a screw which does seem to bottom out, but it's always been like this and I've only just noticed the play.
