that was great. graeme obree is definitely one of my heroes.
it's good to see him in a good place in his life 🙂
Enjoyed that, thanks. Interesting to see his current bike set up - wonder what "advice" he'd get if he posted that on here, after all he does know a thing or two about building and riding bikes. Or more importantly these days, being happy riding a bike.
👍
How can anyone who has achieved so much look so ungainly on his bike now? And that bike Mosser was riding, i`d not seen that before, its insane.
True legend.
Awesome.
Used to see him fairly regularly locally, haven't for a while, so really pleased to see how happy he is. Some lovely local roads on there too.
That was brilliant, always thought he was one of the good guys. Loved his bike.

I think that might just be the slightly pointless use of slo-mo in the video.

Agree! Did you catch/know where it is?

Awesome.Used to see him fairly regularly locally,
were you at the Sprockets launch nite a few years ago where he turned up with his son and they stuffed their pockets with cakes and sandwiches ? Craig wisnae happy .. 🙂
Not all of them, but some of the wee back roads up to Darvel transmitter, looking over to south side of Whitelee windfarm. He's from Newmilns originally, so would have been his local hills as a boy.

Craig's never happy! No, I wasn't, I did go to Walkers opening night years ago when they moved across the road, he was there with his ex wife to promote his book. She seemed a lovely person btw, very supportive, even though they'd long since parted.

No its not just slow-mo. Watch his left knee dive into the frame at top of the pedal stroke.
Love the fact he rides that old bike built of unfashionable parts, and doesn't give a f***.. bet he's still faster than all the local roadies on their high end carbon machines, even with the panniers weighing him down..

Fair point. Bit like Paula Radcliffe's head bob or Gebrselassie's arm swing.
Lovely guy. I once met him at one of the Aberfeldy cycling festivals. Must be 10 years ago. He was dressed in slacks and slip on shoes on one of the stands on a turbo trainer. No one could get close to his numbers. He was then walking around just chatting and signing autographs. True hero who continues to fight his demons.

Just goes to show you don't need to be text book perfect to be a winner
Just need to be passionate driven and suppressing demons.
Errmmm... Version with English subtitles anybody? I thing I caught probably about 55-60%...
Always amazes me how many weird and wonderful accents in such a small place like UK 😀
Great man!
Cheers!
I.
Thanks for posting that.
When I moved to Cambuslang I thought the cycling would be rubbish then I found those roads. Some immense cycling south of Glasgow (if you're willing to put the miles in).
Never knew much about him till I saw the movie made about his life. Genuinely one of lifes good guys. As said, a true legend.

And a VO2max. Legend.
Legend.
Great to see him happy - and love the front mudguard on backwards.
Graeme was my mechanic when I was a student in Ayr. Used to look after the shitty Emmelle Cortina that I toured on. Talked about midges on Mull and other such joys. Heard he raced a bit. He still marshalls local club time-trials.
He's like a cross between a wonderful, enthusiastic, honest kid, Spud and a crazy scientist. I could listen to him all day
The world is a much better place for having people like him in it.
VO2max
Nah doesn't matter if you don't pedal text book.
I was racing against him on the IOM and in Cheshire. Him and Chris B smashed everyone. He was a character, but fantastically fit.
Not so sure it was the bike, just that the guy was so disciplined. Could have stuck him on a shopper and he'd have beat everyone.
A lovely guy, adore him completely and love that he'll always take the time to talk if our paths cross even though I'm a total nobody.
Brilliant to see him well , the book compared to the film was unreal . What he went through at the olympics was surreal . You cant fault his enthusiasm and remember reading that he survived on Jam sandwiches and dope whilst touring Scotland with a mate. Also seem to remember he was the first Scottish Downhill champ.
Total legend.
Thanks for that OP
That was a good watch, nice to see that he's in a better place these days.

Doesn't help that he talks so fast (not to a local but I appreciate its not easy to follow if its not your first language).
