I have a pair of Oakley Racing Jackets which I am considering having prescription lenses made for as my eyes don't like contact lenses as much as they used to. I'd like to be able to use them in all conditions including night riding and am looking for any advice on which lenses are best and any recommendations on where to get them from.
Thanks
I had a set of transitions made for my frame by a local optician. They did a good enough job for me not to notice. Aside from the massive hole in my wallet I didn't have. Worth asking, I'd like real Oakley transitions, but the cost is way too much for me to consider.
Grey Transitions are what you want. I've been using them for about 6 years. They're fine day or night. Rated light transmission is as high as 93% - the same as clear Oakleys.
RXsport will do them to your prescription.
I'm just about to order a new set of lenses for my old Half Jackets as my prescription has changed
Sounds good, are they any tougher than normal lenses? I'd be worried about spending a load of cash on something that's going to get scratched up as soon as they're covered in mud and grime.
I've had them about 6 years. 🙂
I don't know that they're tougher or that I just take care of them on account of the cost. FWIW, I also tried contacts but just didn't get on with them (watering eyes).
Edit - make that at least 8 years (just checking dates on some old photos).

How much? My perscription might be good for 2 years. That's 125 quid per eye 26 quid per eye per year.
Wow. How much are they in the US?

How much are your eyes worth? 😆
I know where you're coming from but with over 8 years use out of mine I reckon it's a billy-bargain.
My prescription Oakleys (transitions) are one of the best bike related purchases I have made. 4 years on and still immaculate - as above - probably because I really look after them because they were eye-wateringly expensive.
Still worth every penny. Got them after a few interesting descents with contacts half hanging out and dry followed by crash then non prescription glasses wearing descent and crash.
Get them - good uninterrupted vision is worth it!
The price is what's putting me off at the moment but I know I would benefit from ditching the contacts.
A mate has had a pair for years as he doesn't get on with contacts, and I'd love a pair for myself, but I've never had a problem with contact lenses and normal riding glasses to keep the wind/flys/muck out and moisture in.
