Hi,

I need to replace my NX 11 speed crank. Will an X1 eagle crank be compatible? Or are there other alternatives? Thanks .

Depends what you mean by compatible.

You’ve got BB compatibility and chainring compatibility.

Does your bottom bracket screw into the frame? If you you’ll either have a gxp bb or a dub bb. Just make sure if you want to keep your existing bb that they X1 crank is compatible.

That said, Dub bb’s are meant to be more durable than gxp ones.

Then you have chainrings - I expect the X1 crank is direct mount where the chainring screws on with 3 bolts with no crank spider. The NX1 could be that if it’s eagle - or could be 4 bolt if it has a spider.

Thanks for the reply. It’s a screw in GXP bb  and the chain ring is direct mount as you said. The reason I’d like to go for the X1 is because I’ve seen one on offer for £65 so it’s a good deal. Actually cheaper than abs NX1. My bike is also boost if that makes any difference?

Do you need to replace the cranks or just the chainring? NX chainrings are about £17. If you're swapping because of boost then all you need is the 3mm offset chainring. If you want to swap because X1 is just more shiny then the same applies to the chainring offset.

Hi,

I need to replace the cranks as I’ve destroyed the spindle. The chIn ring isn’t the issue. Cheers

Sounds like it should be a straight swap then

Sounds straightforward then. Out of interest, how did you destroy the spindle?

The crank came loose on a ride and I was unable to tighten it. I had to keep riding to get home and that damaged the spindle causing excessive play.

ah right cheers - yes they need to be torqued up pretty hard. Definitely to "nnnnnggh" level. I've had one GXP crank work loose but fortunately wasn't far from an 8mm allen key.
