I know the history of the brand UK wise, and I’m almost through the stockpile I bought up when it all went wrong a few years ago.

So far as I can see, the official UK distribution is by ‘extra’ and they are managing to completely miss the brand point by excluding the straight hydration and only bringing in all the vitamin, caffeine and carb laden crap that reduces Nuun to a ‘me too sports drink’ product.  I’m noting that the ‘straight’ Nuun formulation has also been messed with to include extra sweeteners and a bit of corn syrup but until I’ve tried some I’m prepared to give that a pass.

So, questions:  short of direct US import from a third party does anyone know any other way to get hold of lines the UK distributor is ignoring?  And two:  any recommendations for an alternative clean electrolyte hydration soluble tablet that is as easy on the stomach and free of rubbish as the original Nuun product?

I used to use Nuun, and then struggled to get hold of them (not aware of the history/problems). I use Zero now, which I presume ARE zero (apart from electrolyte stuff), but haven't actually checked ...

*trots off down to the kitchen to read the label ...

... Right, bit of sweetener, green tea extract, otherwise Vit C, magnesium, potassium, calcium, sodium. Not sure if that ticks your 'free from' requirements?

I’ll give it a go, I think I’ve had some samples before.  I don’t have any medical reasons to avoid things, I just don’t need/want a product that includes them and original Nuun fitted the bill perfectly along with being the easiest on the stomach product I ever tried. I’m not a fan of magic potions generally but especially when hot, electrolyte replacement makes sense.

History was basically classic big-business global rubbish with little guy with healthy and ethical business getting shafted although casual googling seems to show that the brand have done some effective cleanup of this.

I use  https://eletewater.co.uk/

Salt and nothing else.  If what you want is hydration, that's the best way to do it.

The Science in Sport GO hydro tabs work ok for me. Probably best for you to decide if they meet your "clean" requirements though.

That's news to me. They do Nuun Active which as far as I can see is pretty much what Nuun always was.

Hi five do an unflavoured unsweetened tab. You can add whatever you want then.

I go for a posh squash.

as above eletewater not to bad.

ALSO look at Torq  https://www.torqfitness.co.uk/product-category/nutrition/hydration-products

All natural like all their products,  thou do have a little bit of carbs in it, but for good reason. All in the info.

Extra UK are the UK distributors. Since taken on the brand Nuun changed the standard formula every so slightly so its actually more natural and can now be classed as organic and "clean".

3 different types of Nuun available from Extra in the UK.

Nuun Active - This is the every day normal sports drink (the stuff Nuun has always made) and I imagine you used to use vincienup

Nuun Boost - Normal Nuun sports drink as above but with added caffeine.

Nuun All day - The hints in the word but its just a every day version of Nuun Aktive with vitamins and minerals designed to help you drink more, Nuun are discontinuing this formula and continuing with Nuun Vitamins which will take over in the next few months, its the same as "All Day" but again using healthier and cleaner ingredients that will make it more appealing to the health food markets and so on.

Lastly Nuun Plus - A unflavoured tablet that you can add to any of the above to turn your drink into a carbohydrate drink, 2 x tablets into a bottle and that's your carbs added.

To summarise Nuun Active is just the same old Nuun you have always used but with a slight formula change. To 99% of the public you can taste no difference but rest assured its marginally better for you and the world 😉

Hope that helps.

I have one of their bottles. It normally contains Robinson's Barley Water.
