All this time at home could become expensive as wanted to get a HT a while back but now at home I am looking more and more!
Got my eyes in the Scout 275 2020 model for just over £1300.
For that price is there anything else worth considering? I would go used but now is not really a great time to be going to see bikes!!
I have a Scout 290, had it since the start of Feb, 400 miles in so far. Bought it for local winter rides, saves ruining the trail bike.
Had it built up with 2.3/2.2 tyres on, now the ground has dried out, it was a bit harsh. Fitted a set of 2.6' yesterday, first ride out was impressed out the difference the slightly bigger tyre gave.
The geometry on them is very good, long low slack, but not extreme. Makes jumping on the trail/enduro bike really easy as there isn't much difference.
Was looking at the 290 but stock for large seems quite limited!
On the more Hardcore of the hardcore hardtail front there is the On One Hello Dave for some reason I really like the look of this, even the 62degree raked out front!
ive got a 2019 scout. its brilliant. Im 5'10 and went for a medium....should've sized up but its still great. the 2.6 tyres make it. ploughs though stuff that you wouldn't expect it go through comfortable. Very nimble and fast. I was looking at second hand (Orange crush), but got the Scot on bike to work so it was cheaper than a decent second hand orange. Get one....youll love it.
I just bought a pinnacle Ramin 2 as an alternative, was on offer for £800.
Weighs a ton out the box but I had a few spares to swap over to bring it down
there is the On One Hello Dave
Guy Kesteven said it weighs over 33lb built up. Reckon it would ride like a dead lump too. Goldilocks bike for me is getting a hardcore trail HT (dual ply rear 2.8 tyre) under 30lb. Over that weight defies the point of a hardtail, might as well stick with a FS.
