I've got 2 pairs of Neutrons, one on mine, one on my lads. They're the right size and pretty effective, i like them.
However, i took one pair apart the other day to give the axles a clean up etc. When i did so the inner bushings came out with it.... I've cleaned them before and the bushing has never come out. When i now re-insert the bushing, put on the 2 bearings it all fits nicely, but then once i put on the preload-endcaps, it tightens and leaves a masssive gap at the crank end.
I've watched a couple of rebuild videos, but am not sure about the tools they have for inserting the bushings, or indeed why it would be needed.
Help me fix them..
If not.....what other Flats are being recommended at the moment. I like the Neutrons, but i think if they'r broken they've only lasted me a year. The Wellgo B-54's i've put back on for now must be 5+ years old without any issues.
I don't want a small platform though, i tried some Wellgo V8s at Swinley the other day and they're TINY ! I don't approve.
I've had nukeproof neutrons on three of my bikes, and i like them (and they're cheap) but they don't last long. Just bought a pair of Burgtech composite (£40) and they feel much nicer underfoot and much more solid.
Boring I know, but I really like my DMR Vaults. Nice and thin, reasonably light but a very supportive platform. I might be lucky but haven’t had any of the issues with maintenance that some have had, (three years of all weather, all year round use), the seals have just started to go, so I will probably have to invest in the service kit soon. I have a set of Neutrons too and they would be a close second – certainly good value for money even with a question mark over longevity. I see CRC and Wiggle have Vaults at £49.99 at the moment (if you don’t mind white)!
My suggestion is the Burgtec composite option. The pedal body is tougher than the NP Horizon, so will take more hits.
The Vaults are a great shape, albeit a bit fat these days for bikes with super low BB's, but the reliability of them in my experience, is shyte. It seems they are either great, or rubbish, which makes them a gamble.
No point in gambling when there are others just as good without questionable reliability.
2nd the Burgtec composites. Great, concave platform. Should have the same excellent axle / bearing durability and ease of maintenance, and are half the price.
DMR V12 work for me commute daily, mix of xc and lanes, usually wearing Vans or 510s.
Got the Burgtech composite pedals too. After about 2 months one was a bit draggy on rotation. 2 minutes job to strip and re-grease the plain bearing with no exploding parts released and only a socket and Allen key required, now back to original sure footed feel.
Nukeproof Horizons.

For day to day use DMR V6. Stupidly cheap, reliable and do the job.

I tried burgtec on Sunday. Bought some immediately
I have just bought Burgtecs and by goodness they’re nearly as nice as my alloy versions
+1 for Burgtec composites at a third of the price of the alloy version.
