Now I've got a Nukeproof Mega TR and surprise surprise the lower linkage bearings have gone my dilemma is do I buy a press kit for £20 from CRC get some threaded bar buy the bearings and do it myself or get my LBS to do it ?
I'm under the impression Nukeproof 's eat bearings so keep using my LBS is gonna get costly but then again I'm a lazy sod anybody know if it's an easy job?
Cheers
I have a 2013 mega tr and the bearings are easy to get out and swap over at home. I just used some sockets, hammer, threaded bar and a selection of nuts & washers. A bench vice is handy to press them in.
Mine have lasted about 18 months so far and still seem strongs
6900 2-rs think it's £18.99 you get a red and blue adapter
After seeing the mess a lbs made of installing bearings once I've always done then myself since.
Even on the Jeffsy. 11, count them,11 bearings!
I always end up having to improvise stuff though which is a pain in the rear. Takes patience but is doable. Also handy as you can pack more grease into them if you want when you install.
I just did my linkage (on a Whyte) for the first time ever.
Using a bolt and improvising wasn't that hard... I ended up mostly using the bushing press for rockshox some sockets and washers
Wasn't actually all that hard and when I did get the bearings out some (not main linkage) were pretty much as new (no sign of any dirt or water) so they got packed with PM5 and went back in. Main linkage however was totally shot on one side and obviously not far off on the other.
