Not that there's anything wrong with carbon frames, they're as tough as old boots.....but.
Yesterday I got picked up, the bike gets slung on the back of the Landy and we drive the thirty miles to the start of our ride.
We set off in the rain and ride the wettest and roughest 'Hell of the North London' so far. The bike gets a pounding and five punctures.

Last night I changed the knackered tyres, wiped away the grey gunk to see that there was still some brake pad left and that was it.

In a while it's back in the car and off to ride with an old mate, keeping him company on the MK Sportive 100 miler. Though I'll be interested to see how many entrants turn up as it's pouring with rain?

The false sense of security that Ti gives you is great. 😕

It's obvious, carbon frames give you punctures. (I think.)

The only bit I can see that could make sense, doesn't make sense:

Now this is why I didn't want a carbon training bike.

There are two types of people in the world; those who can extrapolate from incomplete data sets.

He did "hell of the north"???

Lucky (old)git.

That was one of my planned rides "to do" this year.. Fail.

Carbon rims go grey, maybe he's on about that.

I think it's about throwing bikes into backs of vans which have unprotected sharp edges. A deepish scratch on Ti, Al or Fe isn't a disaster, but it can be on a carbon bike.

I wouldn't have one for the same reason.

Also if he gets a false sense of security from ti does this mean his frame is about to fail?

Oh, I thought it was because carbon frames rust...
From the videos hat get posted on here if I was going to carelessly drop a bike onto a sharp edge I would probably want a bounce off and ask for more carbon one rather than a dent and fold metal one...

That said, OP did say the false sense of security 🙂

Disclaimer, my thoughts are idle musings and may not be based on real world facts...

This is my highlight:

Last night I changed the knackered tyres, wiped away the grey gunk to see that there was still some brake pad left and that was it.

Yes, frame material really affects pad use and tyre wear 🙄

If there had been no failed.attempt at carbon hand wringing, that could have been a really cool post about about doing the 'hell of north London'.

Just did the 64 miler today, the wind and rain was dreadful. And I thought a cup of tea and six digestives for breky might not have seen me round.

Now what did I mean?
Well with my carbon race bike I get all paranoid and have to give it a full inspection if anyone even touches it. It lives a pampered life.
The Ti bike on the other hand gets treated like shit and never lets me down. I wouldn't clamp my carbon bike to a tow rack with other bikes bashing against it. I wouldn't be too keen on taking my carbon bike off road either. I wanted a fuss free bike for training and that's what I've got, that's all.

bikebouy, Hell of the North was great this year.

Clamped my carbon bike to a bike rack with no worries and some of the roads around here are that bad its like riding off road at times.

The only thing I like to do with the carbon bike is give it a good wipe down if it has been wet outside to get the road grime off.

I think he's got a ti bike & a carbon bike. His ti bike is his crappy winter bike.

His penis is therefore much larger & more fertile than others who post here?
