Some great North Shore at 040 in the Kriss Kyle video 'Out of Season' . I've been reliably informed that they're building one of these wall-of-death features at Swinley...................

God knows what level of frothing SFMB facebook group would get into over that considering the excitement over a few metres of raised boardwalk.

Must admit, I rode Swinley after they opened the new "trail feature", crowds of people arround it. I rode through, then doubled back convinced that I must have missed the turning for the "pro line". Nope, just a bit of 8x2 in the middle of some wider boardwalk (which has since been broken).

Swinley locals are odd 🤣

Must've taken ages for him to bend that tree into the right shape.

Anyone look at milko's picture and think about the olden days of Mrs Toast and fourcrossjohn?

Its been fixed, must admit it took me a couple of goes to ride the skinnier bit.

Been a long time since I rode one.

About 20 years ago someone built some North shore over in crowthorne woods. A sizable drop, weighted see saws and some other stuff, great fun. Would probably warrant a hellipad for the air ambulance these days.

Haha yes, I recently found some old videos of me riding the North Shore trails over on Tunnel Hill back in the early Noughties - those were the days!

That was Colin (aka Jesus) and his gang, they were responsible for most of the features built back in the day, I remember helping to carve out some of the first berms that made Deerstalker with them many moons ago.

I have fond memories of Esher Shore too.  Was sad to see that go a few years back.

Yes, shame that went - there was an incredible amount of trail in a small area up behind the ski slope. Was good to have the Freeborn shop up there in the middle of Esher too.

I rode it the first time, just went at a brisk jogging pace, and rolled straight over it.

Same with the supposedly narrow trees on the second bit.

However, since reading the facebook page I've noticed the narrow trees, and how narrow the beam is, and have the fear 🤣 and haven't attempted it since (then it broke).

Even after being fixed, it flexed a lot when I rode it.
Makes sense it was Colin who built the wood features BITD. Was all about wood work, big drops and really heavy bikes then.

Were the Crowthorne Woods ones where there was a narrow beam over a ditch and shortly after a see-saw?

I cant remember much more than there was a helter skelter type feature that brought the rider to ground from about 10ft up in the air on a rickety bridge.  It was buried pretty deep in the woods, not something you'd come across on a normal ride.

I do know of some other very well built and big stuff which is built as part of a jump line on private land (with permission) nearish to Reading, plus some smaller jumps and 5-6 ft ladder drops nearby.  The bigger stuff is beyond my levels of bottle.

That sounds more like Tunnel Hill - there was a wider option next to the skinny which I always used to take then one day I just hit the skinny at normal speed, perfect over the see saw and then looked round to see that none of my riding companions had witnessed my awesomeness. Shortly after that it disappeared when the army/Landmarc/DIO had their clear out.

I assume he just dropped his empty can on the floor at the beginning, like all good Red Bull drinkers.

Grrr Red Bull cans

I'm mentally running through anywhere I can think of in my head and drawing a complete blank? I know Foxhills has been rebuilt bigger and better, but woodwork isn't their thing. Is there still stuff in Sullham woods?

TINAS I know one of the Fox builders, not there.  Opposite side of Reading to Sulham iirc. Won’t  put down more details as the big stuff is private land (one of my mates knows some of the builders) and the smaller stuff is also on an estate and at risk (though just off a main road and I guess well known to locals).

Ive not been for years but still jumps etc in Sulham.

Old stuff (Esher)

Smaller stuff

Bigger stuff

My artistic peak, tbh.

On a random note, what ever happened to the wall ride at Glentress? We went every year for years and it was always closed.

Have great memories (probably embellished by time) of riding a lot of the original Mabie skinnies whilst clipped in with a full height seatpost on my Charge Duster. Pure adrenaline + fluke saw me across most of them.
