BIG BIKE BASH

I want everyone on the south coast to come along and make this a truly great weekend. Come on guys, let's own this festival.

This is a charity event. The difference is we have not just races and rides we have lake jumps and bike limbo too. One ticket covers the whole weekend including two nights camping, the beer festival and the music festival.

Check out www.bigbikebash.co.uk to buy tickets.

All too happy to bump this one, as long as people ignore druidh's post above.

A great looking event, just what the sport needs! Can't make it myself, but it's a good event. Support it.

Seems a bit dear to me

familes with teenage kids seems high £120 if 2 adults and 2 teenagers race?? plus getting there and eating...

why have a spectator price and only allow them in at same time as an adult racing - not really encouraging people with an interest in bikes who don't want to race

lower prices might have had more people and more money (have to make a profit before anything goes to charity)

doing uplift day next we - pretty good value

That £120 wouldn;t buy you many music festival tickets or any adventure weekends. We are giving you a whole weekend of live music, lots of activities on site that are not biking related. A beer festival. Free camping tonnes and tonnes of prizes.......

Plus if you are a family of 4 with 1 racer it only cost you £70 which is pretty bloody cheap considering the cost of camping in the New Forest....

kids under 12 are virtually free and I hope there's a big profit

£20 for teenagers seems a bit of a jump as should be encouraging this age group more into racing and joining in - mixed bag of races so not sure people will stump up to race and reckon only 15% of mtbs regulary enter races

would agree if only one racer it's good value for WE of entertainment at £70 - some afternoon visits to tourist attractions cost £45 to £50 just to get in

The final list is still under construction, but they will be from surrounding counties, so Hampshire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, and Dorset. If you have any requests email me today and we'll see what we can do, as long as there localish.
Cider will also be localish
Lager won't

It's our annual group ride/bbq around the Derbyshire Dales/White Peak on Saturday, although not sure of the route.

There's probably going to be around 15-20 riders of varying abilities, who make an appearance on rides at some point over the year, but it's basically two groups that come together for a sociable ride.

One of the riders (a mates dad) and his mrs set up a marquee in the local pub beer garden, where they have a big stone bbq and all the wives/GF's turn up for an afternoon of food, beer and socialising.

WCA, is there are an agenda for the BBB yet? Some idea of what is happening when would be great. I couldn't see any thing on the website. I am just trying to work out if it is worth me and my wife entering, we will have two young kids with us and we will both want to ride at some stage during the weekend, looking at your site looks like only one of us could be a competitor, the other would have to be a spectator - but I am not sure really.

Jason - events are all on the site - http://bigbikebash.co.uk/event_listing.php

WCA did post up a provisional timetable, not sure if it was under WCA or BBB login.

Jason You can both race as there is a long XC on Saturday and a short XC on Sunday plus the night race on Saturday. If you bring tag-alongs you could both try beating me and Soma_Dan in the tag-along challenge.

Plus LOADS of stuff happening all day in the event arena.

Just come from the BBB Summit. All going to plan we are even giving away 40 odd medals now..... I just need to sort our exactly how 😐

See you all there I will be the fat guy on a singlespeed that isn't WCA.

Lake Jump and Swimming are in different water.

Working on the schedule of events following some changes this morning.

Provisionally long XC saturday, short XC sunday, Trails open both days for fun rifing.

Drag race heats Saturday, possibly final too
Trailer bike challenge Saturday, repeated Sunday if we get the numbers
Track Stand, bike limbo, bunny hop comp run twice sat, twice sun
Lake Jump Practice Saturday final Sunday? maybe final on saturay
Trailquest Sunday
Childrens challenge sat and sun and trails open both days for fun
Tyre drag open all weekend

When we are not uysing the event equipment you can have your own races so if you want to find out who is the best in your club, run your own event.

just spoke to my mate, he's 'borrowing' a wedding marquee for the weekend, says we could park a few cars in it 😯

how long is the long xc race and how short is the short one?

Long track is 4.5 miles with fun = 1 lap, open/ss = 3 laps race race whippet = 5 laps

Night Race open = 2, race whippet = 4

Short race is a bit different. Basically we shoot the last 5 riders each lap until we only have a few left who sprint for the podium. Track is about 3 miles with lots of trips through the baying crowd in the arena
