You have 30 days from taking ownership of a product (this could be the date of purchase or the date it was delivered to you - whichever is later) to claim a refund if it is faulty

Check your rights on the which site as linked. Warranty is different from legal rights.

I doubt you will get a full refund. You might get a partial one

If you bought it on a credit card have a look at Section 75

What TJ said. I even just copied that same link.

You could argue that it is not fit for purpose. Never tried it with a bike but did manage with a fridge/freezer years ago. It leaked all the refrigerant at 3 years old and I was told it was unfixable and scrap. Annoying for something that cost nearly a grand. Got a partial refund based on an expected lifetime. Easier with white goods as there is info out there and it is roughly ten years. Whether or not the seller understands their obligations is another matter.

There are guides out there on how to approach the initial letter. Probably in that link! Quote the law, ask for it to be made good, offer a partial refund or suggest an another mutually acceptable solution would be my approach.

You can get into all the legal stuff but i wouldnt fancy your chances as most bike shops dont have the margins etc that wiggle / crc do so I’d recon the only way you're getting your money back is if Giant UK agree to it and I cant see that happening. If you’re friendly with the bike shop you could try to get them to take it up with Giant.

FWIW I was looking at a giant eBike and chatting electric bikes in general at my local giant dealer. He refused to sell giant ebikes after taking so many back for warranty work and only this year has taken a few models on to try again “because they’ve been cr4p”. His words! He said point blank avoid anything pre-2022 giant. No help i know but read on……

When we got past that he was saying the water ingress is unbelievable. He was forever doing his own fix ups which basically involved motor drop and waterproofing as much as he could. Especially cable joins. Dielectric grease, sealant, better cable connectors.

Dont know how handy you are but get it fixed then drop the motor and get waterproofing.
