I've already ordered a Maxxis minion DHF 29x3 tyre for the front of my Krampus, so no help needed there 😉

My question is this......is the carcass on the DHF   the same as the carcass on the Maxxis Chronicle that it's replacing? Cos if it is the same carcass plus the bigger knobbles then it'll be huge. Or is it a smaller carcass but with bigger knobbles, thus bringing it out the same overall size?

Well, you've gone and done it now, so it doesn't really matter, does it? It's going to get ridden. I've got one on my bike, not yet been taken out. Doesn't seem to be be noticeably huger than the knard, but the tread is a little distracting!

What is huge is the bloody MAXXIS logo. why? That's far larger than necessary already, then you've got another 4 "stickers" for the various features. I've bought it already, I don't need reminding.

I've got a trials bike with a multi world championship winning tyre on it. Know how many stickers that's got on it, Maxxis? None - which is the correct number.

Reason I'm asking is that clearance on the sus fork I sometimes run on the bike is a bit tight. If the DHF is much bigger I'm going to have some issues. It will be fine with the rigid fork though.

Nice to see the price on these (DHF/DHR) has dropped to something reasonable now- in fact they're cheaper in the UK than with the Germans at the moment

dunno why you're worried. if it doesn't fit a quick cut'n'shut with some epoxy and a p-clip, you'll be good to go. 😉

Well, just fitted said tyre and it is the same size carcass - measured at a full 3" (76.5mm) on a Rabbit Hole rim with the verniers. The tread width is a wide ol' 3.15"/80mm, and the whole tyre just looks huge!

With that on the front my Krampus now resembles a 1970s MX bike 😀
