My Northwave Raptor Coldweather shoes haven't worked properly since a wet and sandy Surrey Hills outing. Have had to undo them one click at a time (what an awful closure design that is).
Anyway - I finally bit the bullet and ordered the replacement wheel/lace. I then fell off my bike on Xmas eve and my foot slid along the terrain, catching the release mechanism and breaking it. (tiny bit of plastic - 5mm long).
But - that part isn't part of the replacement lace system (just gives you the wheel and the lace). The tiny part broken is integral to the shoe - sewn in to the main body.
The shoes are in great condition other than this. Seems such a waste to bin them. Is there anything I am missing here? Or is it just a truly crap design?!

alas...no, unfortunately. The poster needs the part that I have bought.
the bit that has broken on mine is the little release mech that sits just above the wheel that you press to disengage the lace.
Its a truly crap design unfortunately and they don't sell spares for that part, only the ratchet / dial / lace parts.
Their customer service is also really poor so don't expect any sort of warranty solution from them.

Sounds familiar. I couldn't remove one of my SLW2 shoes after a particularly wet and sandy ride because crud had got underneath that irreplaceable release lever and had to flush it with water / isopropyl for ages to dislodge whatever was causing the issue. None of my allen keyes would remove the dial retention screw so I presume that it is some sort or proprietary key (that comes with the replacement lace set).
