I have Northwave roadie and MTB shoes that I'm really happy with, but am getting a bit fed up with overshoes on the mountain bike so am now considering getting a pair of Celsius boots.

Couple of questions that current users might be able to help me with though, please... How warm are they? I do alright with thin merino socks and Endura MT500 overshoes as they seem to keep a lot of the wind out but are the Celsius as good or better?

Also - do they size up the same as the shoes, or are they designed with a thicker sock on mind, given they're winter boots? I take a 44 in the shoes, so for the boots...? Some of the reviews on CRC seem to suggest taking (euro) sizes up.

Thanks in advance for your help. 🙂

I wear one pair of thicker socks with them and they are toasty. They are a different fit to other shoes I've had (Specialized, others) so it might be worth going a Euro size up. They were a little narrow, but in a good way for me.

I've had mine for two years now, very happy with them. I normally take a 46 but went with a 47 and they fit me great with a little room for thicker socks.

I went a size up (usually 43, Celsuis are 44).

They are fabulous in cold, dry conditions - warm feet yesterday on (long) way into work - 90 mins in subzero temps, even my bottle froze! I use a thick pair of wooly socks only, seem to be fine in any conditions I would actually cycle in!

Not so good in cold wet conditions - the top is quite open (moreso than the Shimano boots they replaced that had a neoprene cuff) and so they tend to fill with water from wheelspray and rain.

I've had them for a couple of years and wear then 4 or 5 days a week between Oct and March, very happy with them overall.

I wear two pairs of thin socks under mine and that is ample, they really are very warm boots. I went for 44's (i'm a size ten) and they are snug at that. I'd go for 45 next time if I need to buy another pair but I doubt I will for a while yet, they still look like brand new.

Very well recommended. I think they're fairly special footwear.

Love mine too. Although they let water in the top, as they are waterproof they just act like a wetsuit and you have warm but wet feet.

Tried Northwave shoes, found the right size, ordered Celcius boots in same size, couldn't even get my feet in them.Definitely recommend trying before buying.

i would go up a size the four of us that go riding together all have them and all went up a size, we all rate them. Water can get in the top but never had any trouble with them even in the freezing temperatures and a couple of foot of snow

I've got Northwave Celcius and they're great. Though bought a euro size bigger. The top tip with winter boots is buy 'em in the summer when no one else wants them. Got mine last summer from Evans for £65

I've got Fahrenheits and Celciuses and didn't go up a size, 44 in Spesh summer shoes too. I find them great, wear them usually with a pair of Woolie Boolies, toasty warm.

Go a size up from usual. I would agree they're better in cold, dry conditions as opposed to cold and wet, due to the slightly open top. That aside they are waterproof.

I've had a set now for about 4 years...very warm and good...I only wear a thin pair of socks under them as I find my feet get too warm - even when I'm wading through knee deep water.

There is a neoprene cuff on mine which works very well, but water will get in from the top, but the neoprene seems to warm the water so although your feet get wet, they never seem to get cold.

Only time I've had cold feet was wading through knee deep snow and the front and rear of the ankles trapped some snow...the snow started to melt and I felt cold where it was melting...as soon as it got in the shoe it was warm.

I don't think they are the comfiest to wear in the summer or if you need to do a lot of walking - perhaps with a slightly thicker sock that wouldn't be an issue, but if I have to walk more than 10 minutes on the trot, I feel it...jump back on the bike and pedal and they are fine...very comfy for pedalling, but extended walking spells might be slightly uncomfy. My finding anyway but I've got odd shaped feet and also only wear very thin socks under them so I'm more than willing to accept I'm not wearing the right kit.

I'd have anther pair in an instant...very good shoe.

must eb the only one who found these not the slightest bit warm, admittedly mine are now 3/4 years old, so they may have changed design.
Don't get me wrong, thought they were a great boot, very stiff sole, very waterproof, just not warm.

Happier with some MT90's now.

Mine are at least 4 years old, got them as soon as they came out, certainly find them warm enough. My only complain is the laces, which I think they've gone away from now anyway.
