Yeah saw that at the weekend. Looks like some kind of dual track was marked out too.

(I'd hesitate to call it "north shore" though - just some wooden ramps of various heights for practicing drop offs on)

Northshore? Well guess I was being lazy than rather writing 'lots of wooden things - drops, balance beams, berms etc etc.'

Well those bits, it's private land, no-one is to go on it.

A local fella has plans of building a skills development venue on his land, but nothing is concrete or confirmed.

I'm sure when it is established properly, everyone in sheffield will hear about it.

Just need to reiterate that no-one is to go there without prior permission from the owner.

Don't stick pictures up here either, it will only draw idiots to it and ruin it for everyone.

This stuff is being built right next to the main road in full plain view and even has marker poles for the rest of the track that hasn't been built yet - hence the 'this must be official' reasoning on my part. I've been down enough illegal/secret/hush hush trails to make a valued judgement. Heck I've only taken 3 people to Narnia in the Peaks and have been going there for some time now.

Oh yeah it were ferking windy on Blacka Moor today!

I hear what your saying but a thread on a specialist mountain bike website will likely draw less idiots than building it in full view, in an open field, next to a main road, on a big roundabout, on the outskirts of a major city
we are not the idiots you need to be concerned about
Ssshhhhh everyone pretend that it's not there

Straight from the horses mouth.

Yep there is a new skills park under construction.
The project is being run as a trial and should be open early next year.

The area is private ground so not open to the public at the moment, however if you are passing and see me working in the field please stop and say hello. You will not be able to ride but your feedback and comments will be very welcome.

It's not secret and is very easy to see, so no speculation required.

More info will be posted as and when.

Phantom riders.
A special message to the riders who couldn't wait.
Although it is a compliment that you want to ride the new stuff. Please refrain from sneaky riding. ---No need. Come and say hello, I will show you what's built so far.
For those that fancy a sneaky ride without permission beware!
The wood stuff is unfinished and may collapse, the tracks are still under construction and could damage your bikes!
IF A FEW ABUSE IT THE REST WILL LOOSE IT.
I will close it before it even opens.

Lets have some fun next year.

Sounds great. Loads of good stuff kicking off in Sheff at the moment!

I'm only just down the road in Totley, and got a couple of kids who need their skills honing. Give us a shout if you need any help.

Dave

Hello all,

You may notice the references and links to the location of this site have gone.

While it is in a public area and posters have made clear that it's a sensitive site, we've been asked to do this by the people behind the project.

Unauthorised use will put the whole site in jeopardy, which will do noone any good. While people may find out any way, having direct links to the location on a fairly well travelled forum certainly won't help, so we've edited this in the hope that people can leave it alone in the meantime.

Thanks for your understanding...

Just a quick update.
As expected the weather and ground conditions have prevented a lot of heavy digger work. However I have still managed to make some progress.
Some tricky wood work and board-walks are now in place.
A number of drop platforms, steps and small rock garden are working well.
The long pumpy track is also getting faster as it beds in.

The first DS is being cut and prepared ready for the hardcore surface to be spread early Jan.

When the weather clears up I hope to run a couple of development test days where riders can have a go on the part built tracks etc.
If enough riders fancy a play (and can help set it up) we could even run a couple of informal races for fun?
(anyone interested drop a rely)

The work continues.

Nige
PS once again I ask you to be patient and resist the temptation to poach.

Hi Nige

I'd be up for that and if you need any volunteers just let me know I'm only down the road.

Keep up the good work, Paul
