Going on holiday to the North Yorkshire Moors in a couple of weeks and spotted this trail on here.

http://singletrackmag.com/trailguide/uk/yorkshire-and-humber/the-north-york-moors/

The red route looks ideal as we I'm staying about 10 mins away from Danby. Has anyone ridden or have any tips for this route as the description doesnt seem to match the route on the map very well?

Also if anyone knows any other routes in the area (maybe a bit shorter as I will be nipping off for a couple of hours while my very pregnat wife sleeps) I'd be much obliged

Yes ride round there a lot,

Make sure you go DOWN chimney bank. its 33% and long so a bit of a bitch to go up.

Very beautiful area, Print the map and you'll be fine with that the bridleways and tracks are well marked.

For other routes their are hundreds round there just get an OS map and ride out over the moors. there are trails and bridleways all over.

Thanks for the advice guys. Singlespeed_Shep I'm assuming you ride this route clockwise as the map says. The guys who wrote the text describe starting out by climbing to Crossely Side which would mean going anti-clockwise?

Can you also poit ouw where chimeny bank is?

There's a great loop starting in either Danby or Lealholm. It was a 'killer loop' in MBR quite a few years ago, not sure if it's searchable on their website or not. I think* there's also a similar route in the North Yorkshire mtb route book (or whatever it's called) by Nick Cotton

*I'll have a look if I remember and can find the book

Ah sorry Chimney bank is on green, Doh its the bank on the map with chevrons just out of Rosedale.

I see what you mean it was confusing with what they describe. I think they stayed at the B&B near fryup hall and rode up to Danby, and have put the start on the map as Danby as there is a car park there and its a damn site easier to find.

Hope that makes sense. But yes I think clockwise like the map, Rosedale is by the way a pretty place to go visit.
