Thank you for a great day.

Well organised, fabulous cake stop half way, great tracks over the moor

Being handed beer as you finish a great idea.

Please run again next year,

Would be interested to know how many bailed out of the "biggest"

Well done a great event

I agree, it was fantastic.

Big thanks to the organisers and to the perpetually cheery marshalls dotted all over the moors - it can't have been fun to be out there in that weather all day.

The cakes and sausage rolls were excellent, as was the beer (have already decided to book a B+B next year so we can stay for the beer properly).

Hope the guy who lost a QR nut on his back wheel and had a 4 hour walk ahead of him made it back OK.

glad you had a good day out. I didn't make it there today 🙁
The weather looked nasty, and visibility poor. Last Wednesday night marking out the course of the first descent, I was treated to a lovely view of the sun setting over the strangely lumpy hills on the West of Cross Fell, with the babble of the river and the hoot of owls below as the only sounds, oh and a few sheep.
The descent with no lights was interesting!

Yes, big thanks to everyone. Apparently, 17 did the long course out of 201 total entrants, which means a lot bailed out. We didn't bail but after a near 5 mile walk across a bog (after being told, "It's all rideable round there") I was starting to wish I had! Glad I didn't though. A real sense of achievement after a tough day. Came in after 8 1/2 hours!

Yup it was a cracking event, I support all the above positive comments. Good signage, efficient registration and cheery organisers. Non event locals seemed friendly, I heard one lady, possibly in her 70s saying "OOh if I'd known it was today, I'd have brought my 3 speed."
I was a "Biggest" bailer and have no regrets as the "Bigger" ride was just fine and dandy and wet and knackering and fun enough.

Yay it happened! Well done all, driving past cross fell this morning and cloud cover was total. You've ridden it this year for the trails now come back next year for the views (maybe).

Good to hear that it was great day. I wasn't able to go because of work and other stuff, but will make sure it's on the list next year.

Thanks! Can't believe how unlucky we were with the weather. Maybe we should have made it sunday...

Great to meet so many people, especially with smiles on their faces.

I'll be catching up with follow-up admin later.

PS Yes, I am an evil b'stard when it comes to big routes! There is a way to get all the big descents in and only climb from Kirkland once, but involves the Pennine way over Little Dun Fell, and we're not allowed to ride on there...

had a great time, and escaped relatively unscathed, apart from one snapped gear cable and a bent XT crank... doh. the 2nd climb up kirkland nearly killed me, not been out for a big ride like that for a while! shame about the weather on the day for the views, but made the grassy descents interesting ie: 30mph+ fishtailing with angular rocks lurking! but the clouds broke for us on the final descent to garrigill which was awesome 😀

thanks to paul and all the marshalls/other helpers for putting the real graft in on the day - look forward to next year and hopefully a bit better weather!
