Don't tell the Mrs, but I'm sorely tempted by the Norco Search Carbon 105, particularly as it's currently on discount at Evans.

Anybody got one? What's it like? And can I fit full mudguards for winter riding?

A thread like this recent one would have me thinking harder about the brand, although the spec. looks good.

Norco by in large, make great bikes. However things do inevitably go wrong or perhaps replacements/spares are required . Evans are the sole dealer in the UK and Evans blow goats. Therein lies the conundrum

Hmmm, I see what you mean driex...

Thankfully, the Search isn't as FS bike...

I've got a 2105 Search Carbon Ultegra/105 and really like it. It ticked all the boxes for what I was after and I got a very good price on an ex-demo model. 9 months later I've bagged a few cols in the Alps, done club runs in the Peak, a couple of 200k Audaxes and the Dirty Riever on it.

I did buy a set of Mason x Hunt 4Season discs for it which knocked off a load of weight - they generally run some 28mm slicks. I've currently got a set of 40mm On-One Gravel Roads on the original wheelset which just fit but I wouldn't want to take it through any sticky mud.

During winter I had a set of SKS Bluemel 45mm's fitted which worked well. You have to bend and cut the stays but that seems to be pretty common for road bikes with disc brakes.

Thanks mjsmart. So there are normal, full mudguard bosses on the frame?

Yeah - there's a boss on the back of the fork where the brake bolt would've been and then mid way down the forks on the inside there's a boss on either side.

On the rear there's the brake boss again, mounts near the rear axle, and another on the back of the seat tube near the bottom bracket.

This might help:
