Hi,
I'm really stuck on which one to get, this morning I had my mind made up and was heading to je James to buy the giant, but it wasn't open so headed to Evans to pass the time until it opened.I then had a little ride on the Norco which felt great, but so did the giant.Ive looked online and spec wise the Norco seems to be better. They are both same price near enough.just wanting your opinions as I've never bought a new bike before or spent this kind of money so wanting all the help I can get.
I ride all kinds of stuff from trail centres to 20-30 mile circuits.Love hammering it downhill which I know these bike would be great for but not sure how they would be up hill.
Cheers any help massively appreciated!

I have a reign carbon 2015 and live in the fod, I would say purely on its warranty it's a better option, also if your a medium my lbs is doing a great deal on last years giant reign advance, I love mine. It climbs and it does everything out there. I don't think norco is as good quality in my opinion only recently a guy I follow on twitter had to have a replacement bike as it snapped on its 1st ride. Evens upgraded him.. but .. 1st ride..

I've got a Norco and love it. might be a bit snobby but I've always thought of Giant as a little boring 😀

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. The main thing putting me off the giant is the spec as I only had a quick check against the Norco and there was 600 pounds difference on forks, shock, and drive train.
The frame on the giant does seem better made though.

I'm on a Range c7.2. It's taken lots of abuse over the last 2 yrs and all good / solid. Ride both and get what feels best for you from a fit / geom perspective - Sure you will have loads of fun on either bike. Also had a Giant AluxxSL frame on another bike which I liked too and was very light for an Aluminium frame. Wouldn't worry about frames breaking from big name manufacturers mid way into a season on mature models - If it was prevelant on either of these bikes the forums would be full of examples/complaints.

The Giant got in dirts top 100, the Range didnt.

Giant have a huge R&D budget - and the frames just work, the rear has a mental amount of grip and the chassis has a nicely balanced feel.

I know which I would buy - the Giant. Giant are the Honda of the mtb world, yes that might be boring but again Hondas win races - Ducatis don't.

Thats my own biased two cents - but unless I was going with a highly specialised boutique brand like Mojo or Ancilotti - Id just buy a Giant or a Trek.
