You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My quest for a down hill rig is almost at an end. Based on previous feedback i've narrowed it down to 2 2nd hand bikes -both cost a grand
Specis similar on both - Boxter forks - the pulse has rc2s the norco has team forks
Both come with cane creek double barrel rear shock, xo drivetrain. Norco has hope 4 brakes, nukeproof has x0
It'll be used soley for uplift stuff, fort bill, inners, and the alps
What would you go for?
Aurum, because of the 4 bar suspension (FSR) and Hope brakes
I'd go for whichever fits better - which probably translates to whichever has the longest reach, considering that DH bikes from a couple of years ago were all pretty short still.
Aurum, only because having seen both bikes in the flesh the Aurum is the prettiest!
And all the other reasons given above.
For a DH bike which a a few years old, condition and service history should be most important.
You don't want to spend a grand, to then have to service forks, shock, bearings etc etc
Also check the wheels are true, tyres decent etc.
I've got a Nukeproof Scalp and love it, but all things being equal and based on spec alone I'd be tempted by the Aurum based on the improved fork damper and Hope brakes.
Enjoy, nothing quite like a full on DH bike 😀
Went for the Norco in the end. Thanks for the advice.
