I'm toying with the idea of a SH FS frame.  I've got an old but good RP23 in the same stroke (57mm) but different i2i (longer at 216 not 200).

Is there anything to be gained from keeping the RP23 to fit or would it only cause trouble?  I think it would probably raise the BB and steepen the HA a little which aren't necessarily desirable.

Yes, it would do that, which you could reduce marginally (but nowhere near enough) with offset bushings, but it'd still be a bit odd.

You may also find the damping tune is totally different, and you may need different mounting hardware.

It will raise the back of the bike quite a lot. Exactly how much will depend on the leverage ratio and the exact suspension geometry (falling rate or rising rate at that point in the travel) but much more than 16 mm. More like 40 mm for a 2.5 to 1 leverage ratio.

Hardware isn't an issue, but that pretty much confirms what I thought, that I'm hanging onto something for no good reason!  😀

Cheers, submarined!
