I wear regular vans on my Bike.
Are all flat shoes this soft, or do dedicated bike shoes have stiff soles.
What are good?

I use 5ten Basics. Perfect for me, comfy and good for on and off the bike.

Not mega stiff, but more than normal Vans etc.

And pretty cheap too (I bought mine off the classifieds here for not much at all 🙂 )

I wear vans for work, and they're pretty horrible to ride in compared to my five tens. The vans rubber is a lot softer and not nearly as grippy either. The soles on the five tens aren't so stiff you can't walk in them, but stiff enough that you can ride without them bending.

I use sombrios which are a massive improvement on skate shoes. They have special soles tjat really grip the pedals. Soles atr also stiff so your foot does not bend when pedaling. Well worth the 50 quid.

I' ve got the Sombrio X-Floats and recentley got Vans Gravel aswell, the Sombrios are good with a really grippy sole but are a bit "loud" i much prefer the Vans, look just like regular skate type shoes but with an enhanced sole that offers plenty of grip.

FiveTen Freeriders are my flat shoe of choice. Sticky as a dog turd on a blanket, but look pretty good as well.

Does anyone know what the width fit is like on the sombrios and five ten? I have hobbit feet, short and wide so choosing size depends on width of the shoe. Cheers

The vans waffle soles are very, very soft in my experience.
