On the back of getting an entry for the Ardrock sport today, what other relaxed events are out there that I should be looking out for?

Lake district/yorkshire dales area. Something that's a day out rather than an overnight, not particularly competitive. Just a challenge with added fun! I've looked at the PMBA enduro's but I'm not sure they're for me.

Do Singletrack still do the day at Lee quarry?

What don't you like about the PMBA races?

There hasn't been a Singletrack Classic weekender at Lee Quarry since '12, shame as they were fantastic events.

I just expect they're a bit on the competitive side.

I guess I'm after more of a "ride out" type event. I know there's the Mary Townley loop day, I saw something about a ride from Staveley the other day, but it involves bivvi'ing, something like that but shorter??

I've not done many but really enjoyed the Evans ride it Rochdale event, last Saturday in January , wrap up warm, that sleet is cold on the tops above the m62
Plus at circa 28-30 miles isn't the easiest ride at that time of year

Did the MT loop the local Mountain rescue run early September, enjoyed it but my legs had gone on the uphill towards the finish

Sam Houghton Challenge
Grizedale Mountain Bike Challenge

p.s. you don't have to bivi on the Staveley thing. B&B or get a wriggle on?

Geographically not where you want and not an "enduro" but ....
The best cycling event I've done ,bar none, which fits your description, is the Dyfi enduro.
Brilliant location,route,crack,weekend.etc etc.

Brilliant, thanks for all those suggestions. Going to put Sam Houghton, Grizedale and ride it Rochdale on the calendar! Keep my eyes on dyfi enduro, sounds right for me, but would need to stop somewhere overnight i think. Not quite got to the stage where I can leave the little one and the Mrs overnight just to go messing about on bikes yet, so that's one for the future!

Keep an eye out for Everyman Enduro next year. Billed as part race part carnival.

Haven't read more than that.

Those Evans ride-it rides, are they guided or waymarked or are you just left to your own devices? It's not clear in the FAQ's.

waymarked, with sometimes a bit of self guidance on the long loop. But nowadays they'll email you a garmin track as well if you sign up in advance.

I know not quite in the Dales but there's a couple around the Huddersfield area I've done that are good.
Overgate Hospice challenge and a local scout group used to organise one around the same area. Both good.

Would have to make Huddersfield an overnighter, I'm from Blackpool, but mainly to allow a few hours at magic rock!!
