I know there's a fix for this but can't find the thread.
So even after mounting the first time, and spending the night with a tube in the tyre, I cant get the bead to seal again - it pops to the inside middle of the rim and won't inflate - big gap, not even co2 helps.
Tips??
Plenty of fairy liquid on the bead helps.
Neat washing up liquid on the bead?
Tie a band/strap/rope around the circumference of the tyre (to keep the beads in place)?
EDIT: Chilled beat me to it!
Are you using a compressor, i use a diy one made from a coke bottle.
What rims do you have?
I got mine on easily using my compressor, but I personally think its a rubbish tyre, doesn't seem to have any grip, and if you don't run it pretty hard then it just folds and wallows around. They also seem to puncture fairly easily.
I fitted it to the rim and gave it a blast with the compressor and left it overnight indoors without sealant and it stayed inflated, then I deflated it, added sealant through the valve and another blast of air had it up and on the rim fuss free. I am using the 'ghetto' BMX tube method if that helps
More tape on the rim.
Lube your rim.
Lube the tyre with a small amount of fairy liquid to help it go on and keep trying to inflate with the tube in.
If the same section of tyre won't go on after repeated tries unseat the entire bead of that side of the tyre and start from fresh.
Unseating and starting from fresh usually does the trick rather than keep trying to smash up the same section with CO2/ compressor/ whatever since there might not physically be enough slack in the section left to get it up on to the bead.
Edit: Just noticed you said struggling with mounting following mounting ok with the tube in. In that case make sure one side remains completely seated when removing the tube. Other side should pop on without fuss 😕 If you are still struggling then unseating the entire bead on one side and starting from fresh as per above usually does the trick.

Sun Ringle black flags - licence Stans design so equivalent to Arch/Flow.
DanW - your last para is where I'm at - one side completely sealed, but I can't get this side on as the natural movement of the tyre bead "sinks" into the rums central channel.
Will it go up easily if you put the tube back in?
I would try unseating both sides with plenty of soap suds on beads.
I find a lot of current tyres won't go up with one bead seated as it doesn't leave another slack in the tyre.
Try this and a few spins of wheel with sealant and all should be well.
Be patient too.
Go back and keep trying sometimes I have trouble then have a cup of tea and go back it inflates fine!
Thanks,
Max

^^Had that happen a few times, can't get it to inflate so mess with another bike for an hour then have another go at it & it goes up first time !Perhaps it cos I've had a rest or I surprise it...
My advice -try sneaking up on it from behind to catch it off guard 🙂
I use these pretty much all the time but use the double defence ones (don't know if that makes a difference). I find a fair bit of effort spent pulling the side walls of tyres repeatedly to towards the rim rotating the tyre slowly and pulling both sides section by section does the trick. The tyre bead tends to slip into the middle of the rim bed but keep pulling it out, pulling it out until the tyre seems to sit pretty square in the rim. Pump like a swine, jobs a good un. Just put a fresh pair on Stans flow half an hour ago.
Also, use tons of stans sealant. I go for 2.5 capfuls as a minimum.
cant get my contis protection to seat on ust rims without a compressor, even after the tyres being on for 4 weeks!
first time ive never been able to get a tyre up (even at worse ive always got there) but some tyre/rims combo just dont work together
Oh, and I am assuming you have the vale core out while you are trying to inflate

No? How does this help - the air would escape?

No that really helps, always ! Just blow it up a bit harder & keep it to hand, you'll only lose 10-20psi before you get it screwed back in again
If the air goes out easily then think how easily it goes in too 😀 It helps gets the air in that bit quicker and pop the tyre on the rim more easily.
When removing the pump valve it doesn't matter if all the air escapes since the beads should still be seated. If you are careful then you can lose just a few PSI.
It also makes life easier to seat the beads first and leave the valve core out while putting the sealant in through the valve. Otherwise you are juggling a wheel full of sealant whilst trying to seat the beads which only adds to the frustration/ mess
dont use lube/fairy liquid to begin with.. you need the rim dry to create friction..
fit the tyre to the rim and inflate as normal with a tube... put the pressure up to about 60psi and make sure the tyre is seated properly on both sides..
deflate the tube and CAREFULLY remove one side of the tyre only.. (this is why you need a dry rim. The added friction will help keep the other side of the bead in place) Remove the tube and fit the tubeless valve (no sealant at this point)
Now you can lube the second bead with a little fairy liquid. Dont go mad with it though as it stops the sealant from helping to seal any leaks in the bead..
Attach a track pump and pump away. It should seat pretty easily but if it doesnt... get someone else to man the pump while you put a little pressure on the tyre at the point it is not seating properly.. Sometimes you might need to use a garage compressor to get the bead on... some tyres just refuse to play the game..
Once you have it seated properly.. deflate the tyre, remove the valve core and put in your chosen sealant..
Reinflate and do the shake-rotate-shake-rotate dance to make sure the sealant is getting into the areas where air is leaking around the bead..
** shake and rotate dance..... hold the tyre in front of you at 3 and 9 oclock positions and shake the tyre back and forth.. rotate slightly and repeat.. keep doing it until the leaks have stopped..
I've given up schwalbe on stan's rims, the tlr ones were too tight to go on crests, I heard they had relaxed the fit a bit since though.
