I've found him one. With £1200 off. Good brand. Ex-display.
He's prevaricating.
I'm flexing the credit card.

May be worth setting up stock alerts on CRC for Vitus sommet/Escarpe, depending on how downhill focussed it needs to be. Stock seems to be dripping in. I picked up a medium Escarpe last week (hasn’t been shipped yet) but it was sold out again in under an hour after getting the email alert.

^ RE the Saracen - he is keen on 29...
(They also have one oddball copywriter in there too...)

I personally think that the Bird AM9 is the way to go, but we will see.

We found a discounted Stage 6 as well, but he isn't convinced by the single pivot. He is of course comparing to his old 2011 26" wheel Five...

I own one and it's more of a long-legged trail bike than an enduro sled IMO.

Is this the lad who had the Radon? Did that break or something?

Bird are showing a med long am9 frame in stock! He's welcome to a go on Cam's Am160 if that would help decision making. It's a L but I find it quite comfortable.

Can you have a word with my two girls on spending their own money on bike stuff 🤣

You've prompted me to spend an hour getting my S Works Enduro ready to sell, just need to find some wheels or sell it without them.

@tracey, and apologies for the hijack....but my ongoing musing for a C2W based purchase is not reaping much success...so if you have a bike imminent, I’d be possibly interested.

He's faffling about it...

The choice is
- Bird AM9 specc'd with lots of nice bling (my choice).
- Commencal Meta AM Ride (his choice)
- Propain Spindrift AL (his monster truck choice)

Edit: he has discounted the much reduced Orange Stage 6 on StartFitness.

Met my old neighbour (young lad not far off your kids age matt, called Reidy if you know him?) in uni woods. He just took delivery of an AM9 with a lovely coil set up. Bike felt really good on a 2 seconds descent i took it on but if your lad wants a demo there are a couple locally now he could get a borrow of...

New bike days are teh shizzles.

One ride in - it's shorter than the Radon in reach, but longer wheelbase. Not convinced by something in the front - tyre maybe, drop stem a few spacers, fork settings. Apparently much faster on corners and easier to move the thing around.

Currently in neutral, neutral flip chip setting and long wheelbase.

He's really enjoying it.
