You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hi all
I'm looking at getting a Nissan 350z and was wondering if anyone else had one and if you knew a bike rack that fits. I appreciate that a Thule roof rack is a non starter but was wondering if a Saris Bones type rack would fit.
Thanks in advance for any assistance

Seriously?
Hope you've got plenty of pocket money for petrol....plus a bit with a bike rack.
I had a 350z and yes, you can get a bike rack. You need a Saris with an additional pack that comes with two 'cotton reel' style straps. These clamp under the boot lid at the leading edge. The reason for this is that the 350 has a boot lid where the leading edge is glass. You can't use normal hook style straps as it'll damage the glass.
However, I used mine once - Its just not robust enough to carry an MTB. You'd get away with carrying a road bike, but even then I'd not want to put the lower pad on anything less than a spotless bumper as it'll mark the paint badly.
On general ownership of a 350, I had one of the last ones and whilst its a very good car and quite fast, I didn't find the cost of running it was comparable to how fast it actually was. For comparison, I had a Caymen which was faster, better built and just looked nicer and it was cheaper to run than the 350. There was about 3k difference in buying the porsche over the 350 and I'd take the Porker any day of the week. In fact my RS4 was the same money to run (marginally better MPG actually) and you could easily get two bikes in that.
Bird automotive do one for it they will ship to the uk as well. In fact they appear to have a uk rep now
