I have an unused SRAM x9 that I think needs a new home - time for a new frame I think!
If I wanted to run 1x10 (or even 1x11) could I simply buy a SRAM 10 or 11 speed rear shifter? It is a long cage mech.

no, cable pull ratio is different.

No, will only work with 9 speed.

Why would anybody want 10 speed? Who cares about having a wee bit bigger gap between shifts?
