I know Mountain High do one from Pangbourne/A.N.Other location on alternate weeks, but is there anything closer to home south of Reading?

Preferably ones that don't involve joining a 'club' as I've an aversion to the whole 'club' mentality (as well as paying for the same 3rd party insurance several times over).

I'm in southcote and tend to Head North from there towards Pangbourne, Goring Heath, Mapledurham way... I've only really ventured southwards once and any of the interesting woodland seemed to have lot's of Bicycles stay out type signage, a bit of an explore could be a good thing though...

Phil,

Singletrack, and lots of it, I've been riding Swiely once a week in the dark but now that a lot of it's* closed I was thinking of branching out.

Pace I'm looking for soemthign faster than the Pangbourne Saturday ride (20miles-30miles in 3 hours on fairly un-technical terrain), but slower than the Tuesday night ride (which seems to be an XC race pace).

Interested?

*on not a lot, but the bits that seem to link everything together.

No worries, I'm probably not as fast as I like to think I am! And I've gone singlespeed so depsite being quick up hills there'll be plenty of rest on the flat bits.

If you want to get fit the shop ride from mountain high in pangbourne is usualy longer in time than it is in distance, they claim to do 20-30 miles, the longest I've ever recored was 25, last weeks barely made double figures before we spun back allong the road, it was seriously muddy though! So the pace is pretty sociable, but they do seem to enjoy climbs that are just a bit long to sprint up, but a bit steep to be easy! Usualy 2-3hours, starting at mountain high at 8:45 for a 9:00 start on Saturdays.

Oldies (Old Farts On Bikes club) start an hour earlier and do a shorter/faster ride, ladies (WAGS Ride) starts an hour later most weekends.

The Tunnel Hill Trolls are distinctly unclublike, more a loose collective of ne'er do wells and oddities 😉

But they know the area you are talking of like the back of their hands.

Just to double check - when you say a ride (roadie) to GORING, you don't mean GORING on the south coast do you?!
