Looks interesting, sounds like short (110) and mid travel (140) options in the pipeline, new motor

and it doesn't seem to have the industrial chic of a normal Nicolai

The little motor shelf does give the front triangle odd proportions, yes. Would fit a massive frame bag, though.

The new motor is interesting, mind. Nicolai were talking for a while about something special on that front.

Hi,

Is there any info on the motor vendor and battery size?
Had a quick google and couldn't see nothing obvious

They've been teasing something that looks like a Pinion-motor combo if I've been seeing the same thing. Sadly this obviously isn't that

Not yet, above/below from a teaser email they sent ahead of Eurobike:

Eurobike is just around the corner, and we have big news at hand: the SATURN 11 and the SATURN 14 will soon be hitting the trails with electric power. Fast, light, agile and with all-new, yet still secret drive technology.

Not lacking the industrial look, at least.

Looks a lot nicer in the metal. 9,000 Euro for the base model though

No love for the Hammer? The 27.5/26 mini mullet. This is what I'd have.

Even the name is cool.

Not a fan of this style of ST-TT brace - much prefer the older-style one.

As far as e-bikes go it's a huge improvement on the looks of their other e-bike (as above). Surprised if Nicolai don't produce something with the Pinion MGU though - I expected them to be the one showing it off at the show, given previous with Pinion boxes on their bikes.

My main bike's a Nicolai Saturn 14 and (obviously biased) it's beautiful to look at. The Swift though? Nah.

Not that I've got a spare 9K euros, but headset cable routing, star-trek enterprise mini controller, ST gusset seat clamp all looks a bit meh.... to me

Not a fan of seat tube braces in general, think it looks OK, like the slim top tube. Price/spec is a dealbreaker for me though, 9000EUR and you get a fox 34 performance. That's 2 grand more than a Fuel ExE (which is also dogshit spec, but you have that 2k to fix the issue)

As you say it seems the price of new e-bikes is quite staggering.

9K for a base Swift, which most people will replace suspension and brakes, maybe add a range extender

I think it's £7K or £8K for a Orange HT Msilse with a Shimano motor

I think the Whyte lightweight SX motor ebike is expected to be £10K

The pinion MGU ebikes are expected to be 10K aswell

I hope the Bird light weight ebike (when it arrives) is more sensibly priced 🙂

Only just noticed this.  Really like the concept but those gussets and brace on the Swift really are hideous

Ze Germans at Enduro mag (whose reviews do usually require some reinterpretation) didn’t like it much!

I like reading gear reviews but Enduro mag is so inconsistent I struggle to bother. I see they are complaining about narrow 760mm bars but I'm sure I remember them banging on in the past couple of years about pro enduro racers using narrower bars and how much better they are.

Yeah, their reviews are generally unreadable junk, it's a really awful publication

They don't mention the price though - that 9k bike has a rubbish spec, it really is mad money

“Yeah, their reviews are generally unreadable junk”

An Enduro Mag review:

“Here’s everything from the spec sheet. Needs a tougher rear tyre. Needs a stickier front tyre. Nothing else useful to say.”

Years back I emailed them to ask why they left the BB height off their geometry data in the reviews. They said:

“most readers don't know how to interpret it and we try to keep things as simple as possible by focusing on the most relevant figures”

This was during the 27.5 / 27.5 plus / 29 era with lots of bikes claiming to suit two or three of those tyre sizes, so it was about as relevant as any spec could be!
