Any body know where to source fixie wheelsets annd those deep section rims that seem popular with London Courier types? I know nothing about them and so any info would be great.

I've already googled it but for the most part haven't got clue whats good and whats not, though I've feeling you don't have to spend alot!!

Ducks and waits for barrage of abuse.....

A friend of mine makes very nice fixed ("fixie" to you) wheels.

Contact him through his ebay shop, Penketh Cycles.

high flange hubs and deep v wheels are heavy, give a harsh ride and are no stronger than an open-pro.
a vanity wheel.
unless you are time trialling where the aero rim is worth a few hundredths of a second a mile

What Mr Smith said. I have high flange hubs because they look pretty, but I don't see any reason to use deep section rims on anything other than a time trial bike or possibly on the velodrome.

Mavic Open Pro every time.

Velocity rims, for all their deep-sectionness, are actually very weak. And the colour comes off quite easily too.

I built up a pair of Goldtec hubs on Mavic Open Pro's for my SS/fixed road bike: light, clean lines and looks cool in a kind of stealth way.

How long until you get used to riding fixed.

Gave it a go this week. Not sure I like it at all. Will it grow on me?

a week should do it. after 2 weeks it's second nature and a freewheel bike feels very odd.
