maybe best to get an apartment? if you get one on the quayside you've got easy access to the baltic, the quayside market and quay ingredient for a great breakfast on Sunday

I'm not sure what makes a good hotel for kids but this place might be of interest. Massive rooms so they have somewhere to play and very accommodating owners. Stayed here with family night before wedding. Massive rooms are ones at upper price range. Some would be suitable for a family as they were suites.

To do - look at Baltic, seven stories and or the petting zoo in Jesmond dene.

+1 for seven stories the kids love it and as the name suggest seven storeys of fun for the kids, there is also the farm right next to it. Google byker zoo and seven stories. As others have said there is the Hancock, Science and the Centre for Life there is also a theme park / zoo thing near Durham which is not far away (cant remember its name though). Enjoy the north east
