Hi all,

I was subject to the dreaded chain jumping off the jockey wheel and getting wedged between the jockey wheel and mech cage last night. It was caused by a very grassy field and grass all getting caught in the jockey wheel.

Anyway, I've got a really nice set of wheel with carbon rims and as far as I'm aware I cant get a freehub body for a dt240 hub to fit the new xtr cassettes. So....

Could I just buy a new 12 speed xtr mech and shifter and run it with my 10-50 cassette and chain I currently have?

Thoughts?

Cheers

There will be a DT freehub body for XTR in time, but with the XTR cassette having a bunch of aluminium cogs, I'd much prefer a SRAM one. Am waiting for someone to try XT mech/shifter on an eagle cassette, that'd be my preferred setup. Hopefully spacing is the same

DT are the only hub manufacturer to be licenced to make a new XTR pattern freehub. Onyx will also be able to use, that DT freehub. I believe White Industries have also got a freehub made of titanium which has half as many splines so get around the patent but still works.

I would also like the Eagle XXTR setup you describe but I believe someone in weightweenies has said the cassette spacing is 0.1mm different per cog. I don't know if anyone has tried it in the real world yet though.

Rear mech & shifters are in stock with Madison, so can't imagine it will be too long before the rest arrives.
