Upgraded my wheel set with DT Swiss 240's on Crests from CRC. Came with 12mm rear bur qr front. No prblem I thought all they need is a cup conversion. CRC ran out the day I got them so trawled the net and found some, a week later told the actually didn't. Tried DT Disty's Madison hotlines and Core nothing until the end of Jan!!! The wheels are taped new tyres glooped and center discs and haven't turned an inch!!
Eventually found some in Scotland, so I though despite checking, 5 days later they dont actually have any. Two emails to DT Swiss nothing!! I have now bought some from a German shop costing twice the price. fingers crossed they arrive. Maybe I should of stuck with hope!!!

what, spending over £400 on a wheel set and not being able to fit them for three months, then having to scour the UK then import the part from Germany doesn't slot into the "having a nightmare" category? I never mentioned the world had ended. That will be when the part from Germany doesn't fit.

So you bought the hubs wrongly configured, and that's everyone else's fault? 🙄

Nope, I bought DT Swiss's most popular hubs and saw the conversions in stock so purchased the wheel. Although if your standing forward for DT SWISS then yes its your fault

My commiserations, but why didn't you buy the converters when you bought the wheels?

So why have you waited for so long if the kits were in stock? Why didn't you order them then?

They are shown in stock (on line) until you ring up to find out where your goods are. That happened twice. Druid, I have been trying to buy the converters but have now established that no one has stock in the UK. Nor have the DT Swiss importers. Should be sorted now just cost £50 to do so. Still no reply from DT either.

PITA. Whilst mistakes can be made, many shops are intentionally showing stuff as "in stock" when they aren't in order to ensure they are listed on Google Shopping.

If you were a proper manly man, and not a modern moany man, you could have just popped into your shed, fired up the Lathe and made some converter top hats in about 3mins. That's what i did................. 😉

I'm still confused why you didn't just buy the hubs configured as you needed them. I'll stand by my 'blaming everyone for your mistake' statement.

But a proper manly man would've just bought Hope's. 😉

Were*

I can see QR, 15mm and 20mm fronts and QR, 10mm and 12mm rear. All in stock at CRC.

It really isn't their fault if you can't order the right thing. But it's much easier to shout about it eh?

Ho hum a wanted ad in classifieds probably would have scored you my spare set as I run my 240's (with Stans Olympic rims and Sapim cxray spokes so much tricker than yours 😉 ) as QR

Your spelling is great but you vision is impaired http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=81538

Were did I mention It was the Fault of CRC? I knew they had run out the day I bought them but others showed them in (or not). My gripe is company's showing stock that they dont have in and not having the decency to let you know and DT Swiss for not making any hub spacers for their best selling hubs. Admittedly not the worst thing ever, even less so, now the bones have been picked. Ian i'm jealous, if you have spare 15mm spacers DT Swiss might buy them. Doubt you will get an answer though.

Wasn't spec'ing the hub configuration you needed an option at the point of purchase?

Exactly what hub configuration do you need?

I'm assuming for remedy.. 15mm front, x12 rear

The 250s is a killer hub, will last forever. 240 rear is also a super strong and durable hub. Once your star ratchets start getting noisy, thats the audible clue that you need to pop the freehub and lightly lube with a quality grease like pedro's bio grease.

One thing that might upset you is that AFAIK the 5/9mm front 240 hub wont go to 15mm.. you need 240s OVERSIZE to get to 15mm.
So, stock of 15mm end caps probably is the least of your problems UNLESS you've got a 240s oversize that has 5/9mm end caps on it, or a 240 center lock hub then a tricon axle kit might work to get 15mm.

Hub conversion, DT Swiss

What about your rear.. you say 12mm.. but is that for the remedy? Isn't that 142x12?
Assuming your rear hub is 135x12, you'll be needing 142mm end caps.. not the end of the world as this is a simple end cap swap and 100% achieveable with any 240 rear hub!

Hi Bear, the wheels were already built as 142x12 and QR front on 240's fifthteen hubs (I have no idea why). I had all that confirmed before I bought them. Again its not CRC'S fault. They had run out of QR to 15mm but others had them showing in.

What bearback says is true, it's only the 240s that's switchable, missed that in my original response, it's 240s I have

Quick update the German Company (Whizz-Wheels) have emailed back and said they want 10 euros more (than quoted and already paid, incurring £9 bank charges) or they will not sent them. It has cost another £9 to send this. They are a DT Disty in Germany, not wanting to be a snitch but going to send his email to DT as the guy has ripped me off!!

Ian, they are the 240's Fifteens so can definately be converted to 15mm.
