Borked my rear wheel and fancy some new ones for my Nukeproof Mega (27.5, non boost, Shimano hub). Don't want to spend much so thinking of some Nukeproof Horizons, Neutrons or Mavic XA. Would prefer the Mavics but how will they hold up to pretty aggressive and not very careful riding? I was using Nukeproof generators (only 22mm wide!) for the last five years and only now have a buckled one.

I have the xa elites (25mm) and they've been surprisngly durable considering I'm no lightweight and tend to plough through stuff.
Done a few enduros on them, trips to South Wales etc.
Reckon the 30mm ones would be great.

I have a set of the 25mm version and have previously owned a few pairs of the very similar crossmax XL wheels.

They are light and reasonably stiff but a bit more fragile than some wheels. Not the best choice if you expect to be riding hard and careless IMO.

I use them for xc/trail riding myself.

Ha thought that might happen. The NP Horizons are enduro specific so possibly going to hold up better. Just fancied something different with the Mavics and the prices are much the same currently, although the NPs are on sale. I expect both would be fine for me but interested to hear others' experiences.

If you're on a budget and want tough, non boost wheels I'd look at the DT E1900's, they tick all the boxes.

I've had an xa 30 on the back of my hardtail for over a year. Most of my riding is in the peak but I'm light and keep my wheels on the ground. Wheel is still true and the 30mm width gives good volume and comfort for the rear. I've had good experiences with mavic factory wheels. One great thing is the pre installed tubeless rim strip which is tough and durable.

Another suggestion, superstar have 35% off still so you could get stans flow on v6 hubs for 273.

I'm about 82kg and I leave the ground on a regular basis. Like the sound of the E1900 DTs, will take a look at those, but reviews are indicating that their engagement is a big sluggish.

I’ve got Hunt Trail wide 30mm’s , great wheels. Better than my old Hope’s as they have faster engagement and are lighter.

You can often get the E1900s cheap on ebay or PB as people take them off new bikes, that's what I did myself but wish I'd kept them now.

Or if you need non-boost there must be loads of good secondhand options, as people have moved over to boost frames?

Lol you would think, but not much around. Nobody seems to put anything on ebay these days and not sure where else to look.

The old E1900's were a bit slow engagementwise, the new ones (2019 and onwards) are a fair bit faster.
